We just got a note saying that daycare will be closing early due to a stomach bug that is going around (too many teachers are out and they can't find subs fast enough). They are not sure if they will be able to open tomorrow.
This also happened the year before last (norovirus). That time, I think they were closed for a day and a half to do a deep clean. Our LO got the bug on the days they were closed so it worked out.
Has your daycare ever closed due to illness going around?

@catlady: yup. Same reason at our daycare...the teachers, parents and kids were puking

Oh wow, nope! Norovirus has gone around a couple times, but daycare's never been closed.

Nope! I'd give them a pass the first time, but if it happened a second time I'd be really questioning their procedures around cleanliness and sanitation.

Wow ours had a really bad bug over summer but thankfully even though so many teachers were out, there were also so many kids out.

No. I don't know how the teachers manage to stay so healthy at our school with all the runny noses and little hands!

oh wow - no, hasn't happened. I think it's a good idea to close though when something so contagious is going around.
