DD was born on Tuesday and besides that she is perfect, it has been just so hard and awful. She loves trying to BF and the LC at the hospital helped us be more "successful" (or so I thought) by having me use a shield. Her latch totally improved and she would nurse tons. Well now we go to the ped and her weight dropped so much that we are having to supplement, which absolutely kills me. I BF her there for 25 minutes, and they weighed her and it was the same (granted she had had a small wet diaper between original weight and BF, but it was significant enough that they are making us supplement.) I always hand express a few drops to put on the shield before I feed, so I can tell my milk changed from colostrum to milk. And my breasts are extremely enlarged and in pain/hard.

So we're supplementing now like we've been told but the half assed lesson on using my pump that the LC did (on the first day when it was a worthless exercise for me anyway) taught me apparently nothing. I cannot figure out if I'm doing it right or not. The instructions pretty much told me nothing, if anything, confused me more. We have to go back to the ped tomorrow and I was really hoping to have pumped to help my situation before then.

Any good resources I could look at now for how to properly use the Ameda Purely Yours pump? I have no idea if I am doing this right. I hate not only worrying about my daughter but being in pain at the same time.
