THanks to @regberadaisy I have decided to use 4oz Balls Canning jars for baby food ( http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Quilted-Jelly-Canning-Case/dp/B000VTSYA8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=16L5OPXU805XR&coliid=I1AJJZSXHAX4GU) I dont plan to freeze the jars, I just plan to put food in it for daycare and days out.
ANyway my question is from the reviews, the metal lids are for one use only and some people reporting them rusting if they used the metal lids multiple times. So do you have to buy plastic lids? Why is the lid only meant to be used once?

The metal lids that come with the canning jars are two pieces. There's the top metal part that has a rubber gasket then the metal ring that screws onto the jar. I think the one time use is more for canning purposes. If you reuse the rubber gasket probably does not seal as well.
You can buy just regular one piece screw on lids for the canning jars as well.
I keep my canning jars with the 2 piece lids in the fridge all the time after opening something I canned and never had a rust problem.

@regberadaisy: Oh ok... thanks for explaining that, I got a bit confused reading the reviews on amazon. I am actually quite excited to use these jars and plan to attempt to do some canning with them afterwards.

@Mrsbells: @regberadaisy is right, the "one use only" is for when you use them to water-bath preserve things. I reuse the lids all the time for storage purposes.

You can just buy new lids. The reason is that when you actually CAN them, the seal will go bad after you water process it (which involves submersing them in boiling water for 20 minutes). The heat sort of melts down the seal and then it's not good after that.
The lids/screw tops are just really cheap low quality metal, so they will rust if they get wet often.
Hope that makes sense. I actually can with these 4 oz jars and think they're great. You can also buy lids/tops replacements. You don't have to buy all new jars by any means.

Thanks everyone I think i will get these plastic caps to go with them because I am not 100% certain if the metal lids are BPA free or not.

I wouldn't fuss around with the metal, I don't know how leakproof they are if they aren't actually heat sealed. And they do get rusted, my mom used them for years for actual canning and she'd buy new rings and lids every year.
You also need to be very careful about the glass chipping along the top. Check them carefully because they do splinter if they get banged around.
Those plastic caps look pretty great though!

Plastic FTW! That is definitely going to be much easier than the metal ones. Since the metal ones are two-part. They are kind of a pain.
