I have the hardest time waking my daughter up for feeding a every other hour. She went from 730am until 1030am for her next feeding. I tried and tried to wake her up at 930am and she just wouldn't. Also she only fed on my right breast for 12 minutes and 6 minutes on the left. Sometimes she only feeds on one side and its usually anywhere from 10 to 16 minutes. Is this normal for a 9 day old!? Should I be feeding her more often. Try harder to wake her before? She is asleep all day and really only wakes Torres and then maybe only awake looking around for an hour or two each day. She also tested a little high In bilirubin yesterday and we had her blood retested today. Waiting for the results still. The doctor reccomended I pump for 24 to 48 hours And tube feed her to ensure she is taking in 20-30ml's a feed. However I didn't do it because feeding her with the tube was impossible as well as a Dopler and I even tried a bottle. Half the milk ended up being wasted so I just gave up and continued to breastfeed her. :-/. I had gone to a breastfeeding support group and she drank a whole ounce within 15 minutes on one breast while there.
I'm trying my hardest to breastfeed and there just seems to be an obsticle after another.
Any suggestions? Anyone deal with similar issues?
