LO is 13 months. She does well with water in sippy/straw cups, but won't drink her milk out of one.

Daycare really helped us until we got down to just one bottle first thing in the morning. At that point we had to go cold turkey and C got over it within about a week or two.

My LO is 18 months and still likes a bottle before bed. I need to wean her but am terrified to do it, because when we took away the bottles during the day around 13 months (and tried to switch to any of a million different types of straw/sippy/regular cups), she quit drinking milk during the day. I'm thinking of putting newborn nipples to frustrate her with the slow flow so that a cup will seem like a desirable option, but I'm concerned it may motivate her to quit milk all together.

Cold turkey, I tried gradual but she would throw the sippy at us knowing she got a bottle in the morning or at night. So we decided that on Monday morning the bottle went bye bye. She was upset for like 2 days and would refuse the sippy cup but once she realized that's her only option she did fine. The worst was when she would wake up from sleep (nap and in the morning.) But she got over it within a few days and we are bottle free! (We did this at 13 months.)

We quit the bottle cold turkey at 12 months. By that time, we had transitioned to whole milk. His milk intake did drop for about 2-3 weeks but then went back to normal. I think as soon as he realized that the bottle wasn't coming back he started drinking. I just made sure he got yogurt and cheese while he was drinking less.

We are in the middle of this right now. When we started introducing WCM at 9 months (with the blessing of my ped), I decided we would only do cold milk and only from a cup. We offered WCM in a cup (DD prefers the straw) at all solids meals until she started really taking it (took about 2 months), and are now transitioning from BM in a bottle to WCM in a cup during the day. DD is almost 11.5 months and we just started offering a straw cup of cold WCM instead of a bottle for her last bottle of the daytime (I still nurse at wake up and bedtime and plan to continue as long as DD wants to nurse). So far, it's going really well. She will drink 2-3 ounces from the cup. Next week, we'll go to 2 cups and one bottle and so on until she is only getting cold WCM from a cup during the day. I *really* hope we can get there by 12 months or so because I am DONE with the pump!

Cold turkey. She didn't seem to mind and adjusted well to drinking milk out of her sippy. We cut bottles out at 11 1/2 months and had no problems, thankfully! Good Luck
