I don't send Lo to daycare and not sure I could because I have trust issues!

I have no idea! I don't think I will ever trust them completely the way I would trust my mom to watch her.

I had horrible trust issues for the first two months until I learned to let go a little! It was a rough adjustment period but her teachers are very capable and caring people!

I never really had these issues. LO started daycare at 12 weeks, and there is a ton of choice in daycares in our area, and I spent a @##$! load of time researching them and I felt great about our center. I know there are bees on here who've worked in childcare or early education, and I think they can probably reinforce the point that even if it's not THEIR child, if you find a good person or good center, the person taking care of your kid loves kids and knows a lot about them. I don't even generally like kids, but I'm human enough that if I were working in a daycare and a baby was crying, I'd pick it up and cuddle it. (And if you're worried about a center letting babies CIO as a matter of policy, I think that's something you discuss with a center when deciding if it's a good fit for you). The ratio may not be 1:1, but if parents of multiple children can manage to give kids individual attention, I don't see why daycare can't.
LO's teachers may not be as attached to him as I am, but there's no doubt that all the teachers at his school, and especially HIS teacher, are very, very attached to him and love him. I guess when he was really little I could've worried that daycare wouldn't be able to adjust and respond to all of his needs the way that I could if I were home with him, but I think they were perfectly capable of keeping him rested, fed, amused, and loved during the day, and now that he's older, I'm not at all convinced that I'd do a better job of caring for him (not that I'm a crappy mom, but I think it's hard to weigh what i could offer him at home against the socialization and the activities and the structure that he gets automatically at school and come up with a clear decision in my favor).
I'm sorry that this post probably comes off sounding defensive- I'm happy with my choice to send LO to daycare, but I also had a SAHM growing up and I LOVED it. So I'm definitely on the side of "whatever makes for a happy parent and happy family environment," but I just want to emphasize that unless you live somewhere where your options are really, really limited, it's totally possible to find a wonderful, caring, stimulating environment where your LO can thrive.

It's a hard adjustment no doubt. My advice is to ease back into work slowly if you can. I started back with 4 half days at my job. DH went with me to drop her off day 1 where I promptly cried and was a complete basketcase my first 4 hour day working. However, this enabled me to see how DDs care was operating. I ended up unhappy with her first daycare and was able to move her ASAP.

Trust your instincts.

If you don't feel comfortable with who is taking care of your LO, you need to trust your instincts. I know it's not always easy to just pick them up and move them to another place, but maybe you could just start with talking to the director about how you feel and what you've seen/heard?

It's never easy. I don't like two of the 3 women that take care of DD in daycare right now. They would rather sit (or lay) on the floor and talk to each other or play on their phone than interact with the babies in the room. They never smile and they seem irritated at everything all the time.

But there is one lady that shows so much love for my daughter and treats her as if she was her own, and I know that she's getting great care. So, I have to overlook the other two and know that she will be taken care of as long as she is in the room. I also know that in two weeks, DD will move to another room and the ladies that will take care of her absolutely adore her.

@Lozza: I love everything you have written b/c that's how I've been feeling. Granted, DS isn't here yet so my feelings could change but I trust my instincts that I've found a great daycare

Will the staff let you come in with your LO for a meet and greet with the teachers before she starts? They do this at my day care and it helped a lot with my anxiety about someone else taking care of him. His teacher asked me a lot of questions about his routine, his personality, what he does when he's hungry, tired, etc. It made me feel a lot better to know that they wanted to get to know these things about him and try and make the transition easier. She also tells me to call or text her anytime I want to check in which is nice (my husband does the dropping off and picking up so I don't get to talk to her a lot). Our center is very big on communication between the parents and teachers- I think that helps with the trust level.
