When you are still exclusively breastfeeding and pumping to start a stash/help with engorgement, how do you time things? Do you feed on one side, pump on the other? Pump when your lo isn't feeding?

I usually pump both sides right after LO finishes eating. In the beginning, I would also pump at night when LO slept for a long-ish stretch.

I pump both sides after my son is done feeding- usually it makes him sleepy and ready for a nap, so I get a window of time to do it.
I also always have to pump before bed so I don't wake up engorged and painful.

LO has always fed on one side. In the beginning I pumped the other breast. Bad idea. I called in double the milk he needed and created a way over supply which led to other problems (but a freezer full of milk).
Now I only pump when I miss a feeding - ie when he gets a bottle of pumped milk. When LO is older (maybe 3 or more months) I may pump more often to build my supply again.

i tried to pump after feeding my babies, but really hard to find the time when you have twins. so i pump when i feed them bottles (typically 1 breastmilk and 1 formula).... at night, we feed them more so they sleep longer so i'll pump 2 or 3 times. i've built a stash of a few days to be kept in the fridge. haven't put any in the freezer yet.

I started when she was sleeping a bit longer at night and I would wake up and nurse on one side and pump the other. Then if she was taking a longer nap I would pump then. I never tried to carve out an additional feeding just an ounce or so here and there.

I pumped when I could find the time, which was usually once, maybe twice a day during a nap (which was always after a feeding). Sometimes I'd get all set up and he would wake so I was lucky to get one or two sessions in a day before I went back to work.
