LO is 17 weeks and she is going through a phase...she won't nurse unless she can suck her thumb at the same time. She screams and stops eating when I pull out her thumb.
Silly baby!
How is breast feeding going for you? How old is your LO?

LO will be 17 weeks on Monday! (?!?) She is doing the same thing - pulls off to suck her fingers and I keep having to pop her back on. BFing has always been really easy for me (I think babies are either good eaters or good sleepers.. that's my theory...) but I go back to work tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to keep it up. I've already made peace with switching to formula if it doesn't work out, though.

He's 12 weeks old, and gaining great! He still nurses nearly every hour, but we had his lip tie fixed on Monday so he should be able to get what he needs all at once now. Next step is weaning off of nipple shields... Then we're golden!

@autumnlove: DS did that too. Still does occasionally actually!
DS is 9 months and it is going well mostly. He is getting his top teeth so he has been biting some I am also thinking about weaning at a year but I don't think I can wean until I sleep train and I really really don't want to sleep train. But I really want to wean at a year. Sigh...

DS2 is 19 months and he's been slowing down a lot! He nurses less than 5x a day now, and only for a few minutes at a time. I'm hoping we make it to 2 years.

Haha DS did this too... he would nurse, and start migrating his thumb into his mouth. So I'd have to pull his thumb out and relatch. Silly babies indeed!
We're 6 months in and going strong.

9 months, 4x a day and none overnight. Going awesome I'm so so happy and thankful we've ha the easiest breast feeding journey and relationship

17 months and still nurses plenty. The fact that she can talk more but is still small enough not to get embarassed makes for some funny public moments. Like yelling, "Nipples! Love them!" at the top of her lungs at the zoo.

At 8 months it's going so well I have no clue where to even begin to wean

C us only four weeks but we are doing good. I have plenty of moments where I think she isn't getting enough or her latch is bad (it is sometimes and in too tired to fix it which is not helpful). But she is gaining weight so I try not to doubt myself (or my boobs). I had my first well meaning doubter- mil, who is absolutely wonderful, asked if I was sure she was getting enough (yes), how long I plan to bf (a year or so, she seemed surprised and expressed distaste for older toddlers bfing), and when we would start solids and cereal (she thought six months was a log time). She absolutely means well but way to make me doubt it all!
In short we are doing good, I just need to trust that.

Coming up on 13 months, and still going. We only have one really good nursing session in the morning (usually 2-3 hours before he gets up for the day, otherwise when he gets up if he sleeps through).
During the day he does a ton of drive-by nursing, but I'm slowly and gently trying to discourage it, because he yanks my top down, and though I don't mind him doing it in private I don't want him to think it's okay to do in public (although I rarely NIP anymore). He gets really upset when I don't let him pull my top down, though.
He's also become very particular about nursing. He wants to have both boobs out and accessible, and he will switch between them constantly, even during his sleepy session. I'm wondering if my supply is low and he's just trying to milk out every drop he can...

DD is 7.5 months and her first tooth is coming in. i can tell her latch has changed a bit and hopefully it will be a smooth transition! it's been good for us, but she's a squirmy one and now sits up and moves around while feeding! funny stuff.

LO is 12 days old, and I am actually shocked at how well it's going. I was so prepared for it to be brutal, but it's working out!

Haha. So funny! I don't think either of my kids went through this phase.

@chopsuey: haha..lucky! If I pull out her thumb... She screams! If I pull out my boob...she puts her other thumb in and sucks both! Ahhh!

Ah yes, I remember Miss A trying to ninja her fingers into her mouth while nursing!
A is now 10.5 months old and breastfeeding is going great for 90% of the time, the other 10% is biting or lazy latch due to teething. We've just hit the "gymnurstics" stage and I love watching LO do all sorts of crazy things with her feet and hands while nursing. We nurse five or six times during the day and one of two at night and it's so cool when Miss A crawls up to me and goes giddy with excitement at the thought of having "drinks" - definitely no sign of weaning over here!!

@Mrs. Twine: hahaha "Nipples, love them!" I can see this turning into a mommy meme. @FutureMrsMcK: my LO does the drive-by (well, cruise-by and -crawl-by) nursing, too! And she pulls down my tops all the time! Haven't started discouraging her yet... maybe I should!
LO is 13 1/2 months old, nurses about 2-3 times a day, but I don't think she gets much. I've been taking MMP on and off, but I guess I should take it more often in case my supply takes a hit from being KU.

Lo is 11.5 months and still breastfeeding, but down to 2 feeds a day (morning and night) Planning to drop another feed soon and probably be fully weaned at 13 months. The thought makes me slightly sad but I'm looking forward to getting my boobs back. I'm thankful that our breastfeeding journey has been pretty easy.

lol! DS has never tried to stick his thumb in his mouth while nursing.
He's 10 months and we're going strong! He is very distracted though. And he likes to wiggle around a lot now and latch and unlatch a million times. That's kind of annoying!

5.5 months and going good. We supplement one bottle of formula at day care. My goal is 6 months and then I am going to start to wean. I haven't decided how much, might still nurse in the am and pm.

8 months and going great! He still eats pretty often, every 2-3 hours during the day and a lot at night (we cosleep, so I'm not sure how many times at night, haha), but I enjoy breastfeeding so I don't mind it. Hoping to make it to at least 1 year, then play it by ear for when yo wean.

10.5 months and it's going pretty well...still nursing about 6 times day. I'm much less stressed about the amount of breastmilk he's taking in though...I'm trying to just trust him to eat what he needs! Also starting to think about what I want to do after 1 year,,,
@scg00387: wow so he night weaned?? on his own or did you gently help him?
persimmon / 1304 posts
Going well! My LO is 13 weeks. I nurse her about 4 times a day and she also takes 2-3 bottles of pumped milk. She is getting more efficient, but also more distracted! I just went back to work, but we seem to be making it work pretty well so far! I have also been lucky enough to have a wonderful nursing experience with my LO since day 1.
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
It's going ok... LO is 4 months, just over 19 weeks. She's started being soooo squirmy!! I basically can't NIP at all. She gets easily distracted. She also tries to shove her thumb in her mouth!!! It's going well in the sense that my supply seems good and we haven't had to supplement

DD is four months (19 weeks) and it's going well..thank goodness as it was rough at the beginning! She loves using the skin on my boob as a handle, which is kind of painful, but other than that, no complaints! She's gaining well - had her four month appointment yesterday and she went from the 20th to the 30th percentile for weight and is a happy, happy baby. I am so proud of my boobs!

@JoJoGirl: Hmmm we have a bad eater and bad sleeper over here, not to ruin your theory! But at least he is pretty cute
@Mrs. Twine: haha!!
We had a rough start to BFing but things are going much better now. LO is 12 weeks old. He used to nurse allll the time and it seemed to take forever (we were also using a shield at the time and I think he used that as a pacifier). Now, he is much more efficient--10 minutes total, 15 minutes being a "long" time. He freaks out if I try to put him back to breast after he is finished, and freaks out if I offer before he is hungry, which is sometimes up to 4 hours between feeds. I would be concerned about supply if he wasn't gaining well and plenty of dirty dipes, but all seems well. I guess I should just accept it! Though I sometimes miss the snuggly marathon nursing sessions. Oh, and now that he knows how to manipulate his arms and legs, I feel like I am battling an octopus at my boob!

@yellowbird: Same! LO is pretty much day weaned. I still nurse morning/night (or at random moments on weekends when LO demands it for a few seconds). My baby girl also turns 1 on Sunday.

Baby girl is 16 months and nursing a ton still! I do at times wonder when she will slow down. She will def make it to 2 at this rate!

We spent 8 months going through every problem in the book...except over supply. Never came close to that one! We've been exclusively pumping for the last month and I plan to do that until she turns 1. I won't miss this. Ever.

@grizz: Let me know how C does after the lip tie was divided. I'm still trying to find someone to see E.
We're still nursing anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day. (One of those sessions is co-sleeping from 3am to 8am, with about 3 wake-ups to nurse.) We also supplement with formula 4-5 times a day as well, because of supply issues. Even though he probably gets, maybe 6 - 10 ounces from me, we're still trucking along.

15 months and still nurses 3 times a day but I don't feel like I'm producing much.

M is 3 1/2 weeks old and I don't want to jinx anything but it's going really, really well. I've read so many breastfeeding horror stories on here that I figured we were destined to have issues, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

LO just turned 11 months (yesterday!) and we are down to 4 sessions during the day and 1 at night. I'm slowly dropping because im so prone to blocked ducts & mastitis!

18 months and I'm hoping we are nearing the end! As much as I love out nursing relationship and I treasure all the memories, I'm looking forward to weaning so that we can take more trips (overnights with her are just awful bc she constantly wants to nurse and I always end up with some sort of infection or clogged duct).
