Wagon Jr. started daycare at 18 months and cried every morning for a week? or two? Then he went through phases... sometimes he'd run in and not even say bye, and sometimes we had to bribe him to go into the room and then sneak out. Luckily he really bonded with the teachers. And in the beginning, they woudl email or text us to let us know he stopped crying.. always within a few minutes!

One thing that has helped us is that we give him a gummy vitamin at each dropoff. He still looks forward to it every morning! At almost 4 years old

It vary from child to child. I used to be a provider for that age group and I had children who would cry anywhere from a day to 3 months when it comes to drop offs. I know it is so hard to see your child cry when you leave him with his caregiver but what you do not see is that the crying does not last long, typically anywhere from a minute to five minutes if you have a caregiver who is attentive and would engage with your child and/or help redirect his attention to an activity. This usually will stop the crying right away.

Also, it is a lot harder for a child to adapt to child care when he is part-time, two days a week. Your son got to spend five days with you and then he is placed in child care and it rotates over and over again. Five days is a long time for any child to go from a home environment back to a child care environment without feeling overwhelm by being in a different environment and being with a different person who is not mom/dad.

If possible, it might be more helpful if he goes Monday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday so that the time he is away from child care is not as long. I find that this usually reduces that anxiety the child has when it comes to drop offs.

I would wait a few more weeks and see if there are improvements in drop offs, then reconsider his schedule if you can.

@Sandy-Hugs to you and hang in there. All the teachers are aware of how you are feeling so do not feel guilty for the teachers. I am sure that most if not all the classmates also cried too when they first started.
The teachers' job are to help your lo adjust to being in a child care setting and be the child givers that your child can trust and learn from. In time, your lo will adjust. Like I said, it varies from one child to the next. It is always hardest for us mommies.
