None! "Exclusively breastfed babies do not need additional water – breastmilk is 88% water and supplies all the fluids that your baby needs."

None. Not until they started "practicing/playing" with a sippy cup around 4-6months.

Now that she's eating more solids (7 months) I've been mixing about an ounce into her meals once or twice a day. She was having trouble with constipation and it seems to help. She won't take a sippy yet and is iffy with bottles.

I started offering a sippy cup once my babies started solids but they didn't actually drink water in any great quantities until 9-10 months old.

None until they showed signes to being ready for solids so 6m/7m. Then they got sippys to go with meals. Both started drinking water then.

@travellingbee: @T.H.O.U.: @Dahlia: @Kemma: thanks! That's what I figured! She doesn't get any water now, but she's been eating solids more. I've offered a sippy cup but she doesn't quite understand how to use it and isn't very interested. I'm not concerned now, then! Thanks!

I have an 8 month old and I always offer her a sippy cup with meals 3 times a day. She will generally drink 2-4 oz a day with her meals of water. I'm also still nursing her 5-6x a day

I started offering with meals when she started solids at 6 months. She dealt with some constipation with starting solids so I did want her to drink water when she could but we were also still BFing multiple times a day.

I offered an ounce or two of water when we were playing around with various sippies and straw cups. This was probably 5 months? By the way we skipped a sippy and went right to straw. There's a great YouTube video.
So much easier than hauling around a sippy. Normally when we are out there is a straw available at most restaurants. I also keep a couple in the diaper bag

We offer a sippy with water at every meal. He doesn't really drink much but we offer. We also use water to mix water down some solids..instead of formula. He likes the taste better when I use water.
