M started daycare last week (a home based one) and I have called each day, sometimes twice, to check on her. I'm wondering now if that is strange? I just want to make sure she is doing okay since it is her second week there. I always keep it short since I am sure she is super busy, and I always apologize, but she always reassures me to call as much as I want and to not feel bad.

I called a few times his first two weeks, but only call now if he was acting strangely in the morning and might not feel well. I never called more than once a day.

I only called a few times. Sometimes I'll forget to tell them something and call. Otherwise, I try to not do so.

I used to call every day. I stopped calling when LO turned 1.

yikes! now i feel like a crazy overprotective mama, lol. I am going to try not to call today...ugh, I just hate not knowing how she is doing!!

My LO started daycare this month too (this is her second full week) . . . and I just stopped calling every day yesterday. I called twice a day the first week, and Monday/Tuesday of this week.

Only if she was "off" or crabby when I dropped her off, I'll text her in home daycare to see how she's doing, otherwise never.

@NovBaby1112: I am crazy too! J goes to my mom M/W/F and a daycare center T/R but his godmother is the asst director so I have the hookup. I am on pins and needles until she gets to work and texts me everyday. She assures me parents do it all the time

@NovBaby1112: We send LO to a daycare center. I don't think I'd call a home daycare because its not like they have "front desk people" who can respond to your calls. If I was calling a lot, it would mean less time that person would be watching my LO.

Never called either - LO is 16 months old.
ETA: Daycare sends an email every afternoon that tells me about LO's day, so I do get info that way. Also, if she gets sick or is acting "off" at all, they call and let me know, so I don't feel like I need to check-up on her since they would call if there is any issue.

I called every day the first two weeks I think, and then I stopped, so I wouldn't feel strange!
I'll probably call in the future if she's having a bad morning or something. Like @littlek:, I use an in home place and started to feel like I was taking away from care of the kids by calling every day.

@littlek: @Revel: totally valid point. i think once i get comfortable and she adjusts, i will be fine not calling unless she is sick/etc. i know her hands are full so me calling is probably a distraction for her.

Never. Only if theres a super specific situation going on, like an illness.

DS is also in his second week at daycare. The director texts. Since DS is the only kid there so early, she always sends us a picture or video about an hour after drop off. I text around lunch to see how he's doing. Sometimes, the hubby will text and inquire also. The director always told us to text/call as often as we wanted. If I'm missing DS, I'll ask for a picture.
His teacher doesn't text us so I feel better inquiring about him during the day.

I've never called. For the first week she would send me pictures through out the day - that was really sweet
