I think it depends on the situation. I would be okay with a 12-13 year old to come over after we've put her to bed and we're just going out for a late dinner.
Maybe 14-16 for any daytime/awake stuff.
I was babysitting at 12, kids of all ages and they are still alive! lol!

We use a 12 year old neighbor. Her parents are home when we go out and LO is asleep. Soon we will let her sit during the day.

I hired a 14 year old for the summer when ds was 3. For a baby I'd want someone older though.

Adult right now prob high schooler once they were seven or so. People hired me at ElEVEN to watch their babies and kids. Looking back... What!!
