We had to find a sippy cup with a spout that was similar to the bottle. After using that for a couple weeks I tried a regular sippy cup and he was fine with it. We actually didn't use sippy cups for that long, we switched to a straw cup for milk around 18 months. (We didn't start bottle weaning until 15 months).

We have him more milk at dinner in the sippy cup and eventually less and less milk in the bottle.

With DS1 I eliminated a bottle a week and replaced at same time with a straw cup (playex straw). Other cups he just didn't drink that much from. He did get a bedtime boggle til 18m. I thought he would freak over it but it was sort of natural, he just didn't take much from it anymore.

DS2 we were nursing and he got an occasional bottle. When we weaned I didn't give bottles to replace and he was fine! But he was pretty into milk by that point (13.5 m). He's 15m and if he's really sick and wakes at night I'll still offer a bottle to calm him, but that's rare.
