My dd started new school and there is a girl in her class who is in foster care. On most days she is often asking for more lunch when i pick up my dd. My dd barely eats her lunch so that girl often eats my dd's lunch. I want to offer help for that girl but not sure how to go about it?

Reach out to the guidance counselor at the school and see if you can coordinate help through them.

Agree with above. Can't tell what level school, but seek out a social worker or guidance counselor. I know at my local school, the social worker is aware of every foster and homeless child at the school (sadly there are so many at this particular school, way more than I ever could have possibly imagined).

@Jass: Definitely talk to the school soon. I don't think I would worry about offending anyone but more about liability (feeding this child something that she may be allergic to.) Perhaps this might point to some sort of issue with her foster care situation. She could, very well, be a girl with an appetite! But it's best to be safe.

Definitely reach out to the guidance counselor and if need be your foster care authority. At best, she just wants more at lunch and is in a loving foster care home. At worse, she is not receiving the care she deserves in her foster situation.

Also couldn't you casually pack a double lunch for your DD?

I agree reaching out to the school counselor or even teacher is probably the best step. There are lots of things that could be going on. There could be a problem in the foster home but also kids that have been through trauma previously often hoard food or even eat to the point of being sick. I was an elementary school counselor for five years and they should be able to help you know how to help.

@Jass: I agree with @Mrs. Washi Tape: so many possibilities. It's really common for kids from trauma to hoard food or even just not have a good gauge of their own hunger/full signs. Or maybe she's in a bad situation. But it is very possible the foster home she's in is aware of the issue and trying their best to teach her to listen to her own body to know when she's had enough to eat so she didn't make herself sick. I'd reach out to the teacher or counselor or school social worker before assuming she isn't getting enough to eat.
