For the past month or so, it has been getting harder and harder to pump enough for LO at daycare. At first, I thought it was my supply, so I started eating more, trying to get in more things to help lactation. Lactation cookies, which used to help a lot, didn't do anything. I'm drinking enough water usually (some days I don't get enough, but I'm trying to make a conscious effort to drink at least 80 oz. a day.
Now, I think it's my pump(s). I have an older model Ameda Purely Yours that I bought from someone before having LO and the newer Ameda that I got from insurance. For awhile, the new one worked, but I've had so many issues with the parts. The older one I use as a reserve, but after a few weeks of really crappy output, I switched to the older one and it gets better results, but I'm pretty sure it's on it's last legs as well. On the chance that my parts are all going bad again, I just bought new tubing, suction cups, and duckbill valves for both sets of pumping parts to see if that helps.
I'm so mad. I have two and a half months left of pumping. At this point, would it be worth it to rent a hospital-grade pump? I'm loath to spend money that I don't really have on a brand-new pump for a couple of months.
