LO is almost 9 months and he is starting to knock/grab the spoon away and get upset when he can't feed himself.

We handed her a piece of bread when she was about 10 or 11 months old and there was no turning back. For a few months she wouldn't even eat applesauce or yogurt. It had to be solid and it had to be from her own hand.

@mrs. wagon: yeah he's refusing the purées pretty much entirely now. The only thing is when he feeds himself he doesn't so much feed himself as much as play.

@travellingbee: yeah... sometimes we'd be able to sneak bites into her mouth here and there as she was distracted. But sometimes not so much. Her weight has stayed consistent though so we didn't worry. She drinks a LOT of whole milk too. We have to cut her off!

We started giving DD food from our plates around 7.5 months, but she didn't really get it until 8.5-9 months. Now, at 10.5 months, she much prefers table food and will eat *anything* from my plate.

Ha, my LO is almost 18 months and still eats a jar or two of purees each week. We started giving him table food around 10 months but he just loves purees for some reason. Now he only eats veggie ones.

She loved to be fed (still does) but she also enjoyed picking up food so I started around 8 months with teeny finger foods.

we were in Disney when she turned 8 months, and I was giving her bits of table food then. primarily she would have a puree at each meal to make sure she was getting enough food, but she ate a decent amount! and she only had her two bottom teeth just barely cut at that point too. lol.
