The easiest thing I found was to take my beco and baby wear when shopping. So I would just nurse him in there while shopping. But I wasn't shy in public.

I nurse her while out, find somewhere quiet or where I can easily sit like @regberadaisy: suggested.

ETA: If I'm fixing to head home & am in the check out or something I'll usually just wait till I get home... unless P was just really really fussy, then I'd stop and nurse her in the car before actually heading home.

If I'm 5 minutes from home, I just go home.

As DS has gotten older, I'm a lot more comfortable and bold nursing in public. If I go to the mall or a baby store, I nurse in the mothers rooms or bathrooms with seating areas. I used to nurse in the bathroom at church but now I do it in the pew with a cover. I nursed in the restaurant/eating area of a grocery store. I try to find a quiet corner or side. When we go out to eat, we try to get a booth in case I need to nurse. If I have to, I'll nurse in the car.

I used to go to a quiet place, like a dressing room.

I whip out a boob and cover and nurse in a fitting room or my car. Or I pack a bottle.

If I'm close & hes not frantic, I head home. If there's a good spot to sit, I'll nurse where we are. Most often though, I've headed to the car & nursed there. It happens a lot at Costco for some reason & we always end up in the car

The car, if I can't find some place private. I did walk around the zoo with her in the Ktan nursing with a cover on. That was the first time I did that.

I'll nurse where I am if there is somewhere to sit and of not I'll get in the car and nurse there. I don't usually have a bottle of pumped milk with me except when we go to a restaurant only because if she gets hungry while I'm eating it's easier to just give her a bottle than to nurse and eat at the same time.

I always have a carrier with me when I'm out with her. I find BFing her in a carrier to be super easy and I can do it while I'm walking!

I just nurse. I've sat down on the floor in clothing departments, used fitting rooms, nursed at the Starbucks inside Target, etc. sometimes I'll head to the lawn furniture department to sit down on a lawn chair to nurse.
If I'm in Walmart I usually sit down on the floor in the bra section (more quiet, sheltered than the rest of the store).

I've also nursed her in the sling while walking around.

I don't really think about it before going out. I just nurse her when she's hungry, wherever we are. It's not a very big deal for us.

I nurse anywhere and everywhere. I've nursed her standing up on a crowded rush hour train, benches in the midst of busy streets, and countless restaurants and cafes at the table. I'm not shy about nursing anywhere.

Funny story - I was nursing LO at a packed cafe last weekend whilst sitting at our table and I noticed a woman looking at me, smiling and giving me a big thumbs up. I thought it was a little strange until she came over later with her friends to tell me they were midwives and just so happy to see an older baby still being BF (LO is 11.5 months) and to see a mum do it so confidently in public, which is what they wish more mothers would do. I must say, hearing that praise and affirmation put a big spring in my step for the rest of the day.

if i'm 5 min from home, i'll wait to go home to feed.... but if i'm going to be out longer than another 20 minutes i'll find somewhere to sit and nurse. i always have my nursing cover on me!

I nurse her wherever. It feels like a waste to bring pumped milk in case. I thought I would be far more shy about it than I am. At first I felt a little awkward, but now I don't feel any weirder than if I were giving her a bottle.

@Ree723: I get thumbs up/approving nods/compliments ALL THE TIME from older women for breastfeeding. It always makes me chuckle.
