Ours keeps a cooler of ice water and cups available on the playground and encourage the kids to drink frequently. That is scary that your friend's LO passed out.

We are actually required to have some water available if we are out for a certain period and usually offer water to the toddlers again when we come inside when it is out. There is a water fountain available for the preschoolers on their side of the playground that they have access to whenever. We are also not allowed to go outside when the heat index is above 90 degrees.

Our day care has a cooler during outdoor play for the kids and they all get water in cups from it.. A must during the summer but its available all year round.. So sad about your friends' kid! Instead of you having to bring a sippy they need to start providing water?
