Today was my first day back at work/DS's first day at daycare. He drank 12 oz and I pumped 14. He's 12 weeks old.
I know these numbers will fluctuate -- some days I'll pump more or less. But as time goes on he'll be taking more in a bottle, right? Which means I'll have a pumping deficit. Right?
Which brings me to my question. I have been inconsistently pumping at 9 pm near the end of my leave so I could sock away a few bags in the freezer. I'd planned to continue this, but it looks like for now, I'm able to keep up with him between my 3 work pumping sessions. So is the 9 pm pump really necessary for now? Can I just do it on days when I don't get enough at work? Or will pumping do such a number on my supply that I'll need the 9 pm pump to keep my supply up?
Basically I hate pumping and hate the idea of doing it a 4th time at night when all I want to do is relax. I'm drinking 3 cups of nursing tea during the day thinking that might bump output up a bit...
ETA the current schedule is roughly:
Nurse 6 am
Pump 8:30 am (DS takes bottle at daycare)
Pump 12:00 pm (DS takes bottle at daycare)
Pump 3 pm (DS takes bottle at daycare)
Nurse 6 pm
Nurse midnight
Nurse 3 am
On weekends I'll only nurse, no pumping, but might do a 9 pm pump in those days.
