LO just turned 1 yesterday (yay!) and it was always my goal to breast feed for a year and then stop. For the past two months I have slowly been weaning her (we combo feed so it wasn't that hard). Tonight was our last nursing session. I have to admit I cried a little. It's bittersweet, especially since we had a hard go at breast feeding (NICU, then low supply). I'm really proud of myself for making my goal. I'm happy/sad that my baby is not a little baby anymore.

congrats on making it to your goal, especially with a rough start!! huge huge accomplishment! we're still nursing, but only 2 sessions a day now. it feels good, but bittersweet to be at the end of what has been a long road.

@Mrs. High Heels: yes! We had a party for her today! It was so much fun....she really exceeded expectations during the cake smash.....put her fists into the pink frosting and smeared it over her face and it looked like she was wearing a pink mask of Zorro! And thank you, I just felt like HB would understand my feelings about our breast feeding journey so I decided to write something.

And I think it's wonderful that you KNEW it was your last session, so you could fully enjoy it and be present, not checking your phone or the time or whatever and only realizing after, you know?
I get weepy even thinking about weaning and C is only 7 months.

Thanks everyone! And yes @Foodnerd81: after reading about people's "last time" here on HB, I really made sure to plan it/designate it as "the last time" so I could be present and remember the moment. I made my sister take a picture of us too. Cheesy but I don't care! I want to remember it forever!

@Ginabean3: I took a picture of C nursing just yesterday so I would remember this time-- I have a gross giant pimple, and she's grabbing at my face, but that's our reality right now!

Congratulations on reaching your goal!!!! What a great accomplishment!!! I can only imagine how bittersweet that last nursing session is - I'm starting to wean Xander next week when he turns one as well and I'm excited and sad about the whole thing!
