Hi ladies.... Joining in the talk, sooooo glad I found this site, I was beginning to wonder about my TWW and the emotional rolarcoaster ride I have been putting my hubby thru.
I am in month 2 of iui, with clomid and ovidrel.
Just had progesterone test done last week, was at 14.0.... This TWW is driving me crazy.
Last 2 nights I have had some crazy vivid dreams.
And backache and stomach bloating for about a week now.
Been ttc (w/o dr.s) for over three years now and finally just went to the fertility specialist after my 36th bday in august....
    Thinking nothing but positive thoughts.
But glad to see others are supportive and in similar situations.

Oh yea, my follicles this month were as my dr put it text book perfect at 19& 18.

@Trying2Synchorswim: Welcome! I'm glad you found this site too! It's been a great source of support and information for me during my infertility journey and into motherhood. I hope your textbook perfect follicles lead to your positive pregnancy test soon!

Had my CD9 u/s to see how things are going after Clomid. I have 3 follicles so that's good. My lining is only 3mm though, they commented that it's "a little thin" but still time for it to grow. Concerns me a little.

I am going back Monday for a follow up u/s and will probably get the trigger shot then and then IUI Tues or Wed.

Well, I'm on CD2 after my November IUI. We will likely try 2 more, but DH's numbers were horrid last time, so we're not too hopeful. Just feeling like we should "check IUIs off the list" before deciding that IVF is our only route. It's such a bummer because DH had great numbers for IUI back in the spring, but now they're awful. Sigh.

@MrsADS: my lining was thin and they put me on extracellular ahead of my IUI.

Cross posting this to get opinions... Wwyd?
We are trying to decide if we'll maybe go ahead and ttc this month. Here's the situation: we have been trying for 6 months and found out I have DOR and a uterine polyp that they were going to remove. I was supposed to start an IUI with injectables cycle this cycle but I got a surprise BFP. I lost it a few days later. We have to wait a cycle to do IUI now so we were going to just sit this one out. The reasoning being that maybe the polyp is a factor preventing implantation....? If I got pregnant again and lost it again, we'd have to sit out yet another cycle. But looking at when my cycle will fall, we'll be out of town at the start of the next cycle for Christmas and won't be able to start the IUI then anyway because I have to be monitored... So the question is, sit out 2 cycles on the off chance that the polyp was a factor. Or try this month anyway since even if I did have another chemical, we couldn't start IUI next cycle anyway because of Christmas travels...? What do y'all think?

@kayakgirl73: If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I am getting so discouraged, I am 40 years old, turned 40 in May, and I have 2 boys, but my husband doesn't have any children. We have been trying, my story is on here somewhere, but our 5th IUI was unsuccessful last month. We have decided to take a couple months off to save some money and try injectables in January. I just need some encouraging stories right now.

I do have a friend who was told she had NO eggs... and a near nothing chance of getting pregnant. She adopted a baby girl and now (little girl is almost 1) she is 16 weeks pregnant with a little boy!! I am hoping to be in her boat soon. My dr said that the number of people who get pregnant naturally the month after stopping clomid etc would surprise me, so I am hoping I can join them! Otherwise, we will start the ever so expensive ( still not at expensive as IVF) injectable medications next month!

@fotolori1: I had to take a Clomid & IUI break since I was on meds for 5 cycles straight & the last 2 cycles were on 150 mg clomid with IUI. Our next step was to either do one more round of clomid/IUI, injectables/IUI, or IVF. I felt so rejuvenated on my first cycle off meds & feeling hopeful because I had ovulated on my own without meds that I decided to take an additional med free cycle. Luckily for me, I wound up with a surprise BFP & am almost 18 weeks. I believe that the clomid helped jump start my body's ability to ovulate as well as the fertility acupuncture I've been going to once I started my med free cycles helped me in getting my BFP. Good luck to you! Also, I may have mentioned before on this thread but there are other ladies who got their BFPs from injectable IUI cycles. My RE was certain that I would get pregnant from an injectable IUI cycle as he suggested that I go that route before heading to IVF.

@travelingbee: I'm sorry for your recent loss. If I were in your position, knowing myself, I would try anyways only because the timeline is already set.

@lazypanda: yea, I like hearing positive stories.
As I recently started , now meaning I have to go to month three of iui. Ugggg but upping from 50 to 150 of clomid. Then stopping if thiings don't work, as the cost is rising without my funds doing the same.
I so want this, but husband is feeling like he lost a year of life since I have been so intent on baby making. Age being the biggest factor for my insisting.
Getting frustrated and downhearted, and not knowing me... That is soooooo not my style. I just wish I could as the non tryers say, oh just quit trying and it will happen... Stupid monthlys stop that thought in me instantly.
I am thinking after my next month (still hoping for positive results, but also a realist) of doing acupuncture!
I love the non med routes!

@Trying2Synchorswim: I would highly suggest that you join in the IF thread check in. It kept me sane for all of my cycles of trying & helped me get through some pretty dark moments. I lurked for a bit before joining but was so happy that I finally did join. It sucks that we are tied down financially & emotionally due to our IF diagnosis & honestly, the feelings don't go away immediately once the BFP comes either. But the support from all the ladies who are currently going through it & have "crossed" over has been a tremendous help. As I've said many times before, I do hope everyone of the IF ladies gets their sticky BFP & take home baby! Good luck!

Had u/s today... 2 follicles, uterine lining is like 7.8. Which doesn't seem great to me but they said over 7 is okay.

I have to give myself the HCG injection tonight for the first time(!!!). Then IUI Wednesday morning.

  24. MrsADS

    nectarine / 2262 posts

Well, I had my IUI this morning. Went okay except the doctor said my cervix and uterus are "tilted" so he had a tech do u/s on my belly while he put it in to see where it was going. It was uncomfortable but not really painful.

The bad news - DH's sample was pretty low numbers, about 15 million. The doctor said the motility looked ok though but the doctor did not seem optimistic that it would work based on DH's numbers. He actually recommended that we do a second IUI *tomorrow* to try to get a better sample. But we're paying for everything out of pocket so it's another $375. Since it's our first IUI, we are just going to BD tonight/tomorrow and see what happens.

My hopes aren't high, though. I'm also going to take Progesterone suppositories for the rest of my cycle. My progesterone level last cycle after O was only a 7, the doctor says he wants at least 15.

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@MrsADS: I know that RE's can have varied opinions, but I recall mine saying they want to see no less than 5 million post-wash. So I think if you and your husband BD tonight and tomorrow, and you start the progesterone, you still have a great chance! Stay positive! Good luck to you!

@fotolori1: Sorry for the late reply. I'm 41. My first IUI cycle this time ended in a BFN. Clomid then Bravelle and Ovridel. I had a great response according to the RE. My husbands numbers were merely okay, he had to give an extra sample at the RE because too many had died in transport. They also had a really hard time finding my cervix and maneuvering the catheter. I suspect one of those factors. I also wonder about my lining they said it was fine but with my successful IUI two and half years ago I was on Estrace for lining building. This IUI cycle went really fast when I went in for my monitoring appt. to see how much Bravelle I would need they found one follicle at 22 and the rest at 10 to 12 so they had me trigger instead of the Bravelle shot, I figured it was going to be a bust, but it actually worked. Lining on the thin side so I was out on Estrace again. I wonder if my body really needs that boost. The other different thing we did in my first cycle this time was we upped my synthyroid for my Hypothyroid. A Med change can take six weeks to work which would have put me into my second cycle. Good luck.

@Sweetooth thank you!! I hope you are right

Anyone else have some cramping after their IUI? The actual procedure was kind of uncomfortable (felt like a pap) but not painful.

But about an hour after I started having cramps - kinda like period cramps but maybe a little sharper, I dunno. They were kind of bad for a while, but I took some Motrin and now they are (mostly) gone.

Anyone else have this? I figure it's probably just from my uterus being kind of irritated from being poked and stuff. LOL

@MrsADS: That can happen according to my post- procedure instructions.

I did have some cramping the time they had trouble finding my cervix.

So went in d5 for ultrasound, right ovary great, left one, not so much a big sack filled with fluid, guess it is normal, called corpus luteum, so no go for round three this month.....
    Discouraging....down....
But if I hear, maybe it's just not meant to be ...one more time.... I'm gonna have a panic attack and snap on someone

@Trying2Synchorswim: sorry to hear it's not looking good....it's so frustrating. We were supposed to start our IUI in Nov. Then I had a CP so it was delayed. Then we're going to be away for the holidays during next cycle do it's a no-go too...so we need to wait until January.

I'm about to go have a hysteroscopy. Fun.

  32. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@travellingbee: I hope your hysteroscopy went well. I had one done before we started IUIs and I believe it helped us conceive!

@Trying2Synchorswim: Sorry to hear about your left ovary. Do they continue to keep track of it for this cycle? Or just call it off and you have to wait until another period to start to monitor again? Also, I give you permission to bop anyone and everyone over the head that says "maybe it's just not meant to be" - jerks.

  33. Trying2Synchorswim

    pea / 6 posts

@sweetooth: it is just off until my next cycle then we check to see if it has gone down.
Cannot start clomid again until it goes down.
.... Will have to wait till Christmas week for that.
I appreciate the bopping go ahead..... My visualization of that will help me!
What is a hysterioscopy and why do you think it helped?

  34. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Trying2Synchorswim: @sweetooth: depends on what kind you have done. They go into your uterus with a scope and look around. Sometimes they do a surgical procedure to remove adhesions or polyps, both of which could be contributing to infertility. So having it done could eliminate those factors. Mine showed nothing there so they just looked around and that was it. I was very happy to hear that I didn't have a polyp after all!

  35. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@Trying2Synchorswim: What @travellingbee: said is just what I was going to say. I am "unexplained" as to why we cannot get pregnant without the help of our RE. But in my head, it helped me think that when they saw the fibroid on my hsg, confirmed it with my saline sono, and then performed the hysteroscopy and we got pregnant three months later...well, I thought "I'm not unexplained. I just had something in the way that needed to be removed to make room for the baby :)"

@travellingbee: I'm glad your hysteroscopy revealed that everything is all clear in there! Hopefully it's primed and ready now for a baby - good luck this cycle without intervention.

I haven't been here in a while, but I have been thinking about everyone. I have to take a couple of months off because we are having to start the injectables, so I guess we are going to be ordering those in January and starting them in February. I have been so discouraged lately, but reading some positive stories helps! Until then, we are going to just try ovulation tests and the good old fashioned way! Best of luck to everyone! I will be praying that we all get our miracles in 2015 if not sooner!

I'm on my first (and only) IUI cycle. Was on gonal f for 12 days at high dose.

Follicles were at 19 and 20 on Thursday, so triggered that night and had IUI on Friday and today. Now in TWW. Good luck to both of us!
