I don't mind posting again, sharing has always really helped me!
I got pregnant my second month more than a year ago, which ended in an ectopic pregnancy rupture and left tube removal. Fast forward through several months of anovulation and irregular cycles and this month I got a bfp while taking letrozole + HCG trigger but no IUI since I was ovulating on the wrong side!
I hope this tread is lucky for all of us!!

This was definitely a lucky thread! My IUI worked and got me a BFP! Unfortunately, I'm waiting in limbo as my betas were both low & did not double. I think I'm ready for the next cycle to come knowing that IUI does work for me in getting sperm to meet egg. Good luck to all the ladies still in TWW.

@lazypanda - it definitely was a lucky month! Hopefully, your little one is just growing a little slow, and you won't need a next month. Will you get your second beta numbers tomorrow? Lots of thoughts and prayers for good news!

@EmilyE: I received my 2nd beta of 13 yesterday. I'll be calling my RE tomorrow to find out what my next step is. It's possible that we may take a break from the meds because my RE had told Me & DH that he does not like his patients to be on medicated cycles for so many months in a row. How are you doing?

bumping this thread to see if there are more IUIs or ladies waiting for their IUI cycles. Hope everyone is doing well, and for those with successful IUIs, congrats again!
I had my CD13 u/s which showed that I had only 1 dominant follicle, triggered that night, then IUI#2 on CD15. I'm currently 4 days post IUI right now but this cycle I am not testing out my trigger and have not used any OPKs. @bluestripedbee: and I are not too far from each other for POAS dates.

@lazypanda: Thanks for bumping this thread!
I'm finally in the TWW of IUI #4. I will POAS on 6/19.
IUI details:
Meds: metformin, dexamethasone, Femera and trigger shot
Cycle: 23! My lucky number!
First IUI at new clinic, back to back inseminations, medications to treat newly disgnosed PCOS and DOR.
Lots of firsts! Lets hope my first beta in two weeks is good and I get to see my first BFP!

I am new to this and I am freaking out! I just had my first IUI this morning and I am a nervous wreck! Just wanted to say HI and wish everyone luck!!!
History: Just turned 40 in May. I have 2 boys from a previous marriage. My husband has no children which is why we are trying. Started seeing RE about a year ago, because of 3 years not trying/not preventing.
Procedures: Lap showed endo, and scar tissue from previous c-sections. HSG showed both tubes clear. Clomid challenge test showed that I was ovulating. Progesterone levels have been normal each month to confirm ovulation. I had lots of blood work done, one of them checked my "ovarian reserve" since I am 40, the level was normal for my age but not low. Then I had some other test that I can't remember that was encouraging for checking how many eggs I have left. My diagnosis is just unexplained, but they are pretty sure I don't have quality cervical mucus. We tried mucinex, but with the clomid it wasn't successful. Either mine is not good for the sperm to swim in or it is too acidic etc. They said that for my numbers on my post-coital exam they normally recommend an IUI, so here we are!
Meds: Just Clomid 50mg days 5-9. No trigger shots or anything.
My husbands semen analysis was good! Good motility, good count etc. Yay hubs!

@Mrs. Pinata: My RE recommended Letrozole (generic of Femara) because she said she sees fewer negative side effects in patients. I realize my post is late, but maybe this would be something to ask about in the future?
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@winter_wonder: Thank you! Yes, that's what I thought. If our RE ever wants me back on follicle stimulating drugs I will definitely want to go that route instead of Clomid!
kiwi / 636 posts
@fotolori1: welcome & good luck with the TWW! FX that this will be your first & only IUI!
@Mrs. Pinata: I went back to look at what I wrote to you previously & my comment would change now. Clomid kicked my butt in my last cycle. So much so that I am somewhat hesitant to be back on that.
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@lazypanda: Oh no! Well, I guess we're in the same boat then. I need to stay away from Clomid forever too!
apricot / 386 posts
@Lazypanda: Thank you! I really hope so. After trying for so long with no success, it is hard to think positive! I am doing my best though!
This TWW is torture! And I am only 2 days in! UGH!
@bluestripedbee: Good luck with everything! I hope this one is your last one!

@fotolori1: Welcome to the TWW. I had my IUI (#5) on July 3rd. When are you planning on POAS?
apricot / 386 posts
@bluestripedbee:Thank you! I am suppose to poas next monday. I had my progesterone checked and it was only 13.6 one week after the IUI, so I am not as hopeful this month as I was. This was my first IUI and my RE said if not pregnant this month, next month it is 100 mg Clomid, 13 day US, trigger shot and then IUI.
I guess after 5 IUI's you have done all that as well. Right? It sounds like a lot!
Best of luck to you! When do you poas??
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@fotolori1: The first 3 IUIs I was on femera and trigger shot. I was at a different office that did things differently and I don't think they did the test required to figure out why my IUIs were unsuccessful. I switched offices and they ran some tests and I finally got the diagnosis in April that I have mild PCOS and DOR. So I've been on metformin and dexamethsone for the past 2 months. Oh, I'm still doing femera and trigger shot. They were hopeful that I could try IUIs so that's why I'm on IUI #5. Plus, a part of me wanted to see if IUIs worked or didn't work before moving on to IVF. I paid for 3 IUIs so if I get to my 6th IUI, we'll have to figure out our next steps.

I hope you guys don't mind me jumping in. It is always so nice to see other ladies that can relate to what you are going through. As common as infertility is, I don't know anyone else going through these issues, personally. Here is a little background on my story.
So what's up? I have 4 children 18, 17, 15 and 12 and am 38 years old. I will be 39 in Sept. I have been with my current husband for 5 1/2 years and he has no children and would like one of his own. We got pregnant in 2011 and lost the baby at 12 weeks and had to get a D & C. In Nov 2013 we got pregnant again and lost the baby at 8 weeks and had to have another D & C. We were then referred to an RE. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid, polyp and low ovarian reserve. My RE also believes that my eggs are being released too soon before they have matured which is why I am taking clomid and Letrozole. I started thyroid meds and had surgery to remove my polyp. In April we were given the go ahead to start TTC again.
Where are you in your IUI cycle? This will be my very first IUI!
How many IUIs will this be? 1
Medications? I have been doing 50 mg of clomid and it has been unsuccessful. Last month I did 2.5 Letrozole and ended up having a cyst. This month I am doing 2.5 of Letrozole, Ovidrel and IUI.
I am so nervous to do my first IUI. I already feel so anxious and exhausted by everything we have gone through. I guess it is just nice to chat with other ladies that understand and can that I can vent to. Would love to hear back from anyone.
Thanks!

@Beebee: Welcome!! I'm so sorry about your m/c. Sending lots of to you that IUIs are what you need to get pregnant.
Do you know when your IUI is being scheduled? Have you started your letrozole yet?
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thank you so much!
I actually started my letrozole 3-7 DPO on the 3rd. I go in for my follie check on Sat and if all looks good I trigger and do the IUI on Monday. I am so anxious and am not looking forward to that 2WW.
persimmon / 1479 posts
@Beebee: Hello I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriages it looks like we are on similar cycles. I also did Letrozole and finished my last dosage yesterday. We'll be doing our first IUI this month. My hospital doesn't do a trigger shot, but waits for an LH surge. Based on where I'm at in my cycle I think this could be late next week. I hope we're both lucky this cycle!

@Beebee: Welcome! So sorry about your loses!
Sounds like you have a great plan ahead for your IUI
It is overwhelming, but I'm sure many will agree with me that the actual IUI is the easiest part
Prayers and best of luck! :

Thank you ladies for being so kind and I wish you all the best in this journey. It sure isn't easy. WINTER_WONDER it would be great to have someone cycle with me. I do hope that it is a great month for both of us! If you don't mind me asking, what plan were you on prior to this IUI?
apricot / 386 posts
@bluestripedbee: When will you be testing again? Also... what is DOR? I'm not familiar with that. I had a lap with which I had some endo removed, some scar tissue removed and the neck of my cervix was stretched? Not sure what that did, but I also had an HSG, but both tubes were open. I am suppose to test this coming Monday. I am getting nervous! I am not very hopeful with my progesterone level of 13.6. I don't think I ovulated very well.
kiwi / 636 posts
@Beebee: welcome! I've gone through 2 IUIs now and they're super quick and easy! I thought it would take a long time to do but the procedure was so quick and painless, it was over before I knew it. My first IUI yielded my first BFP, unfortunately that did not stick. I hope it's one (IUI) and done for you!
@fotolori1: will you try to test earlier? I know my RE says to wait 14 days from the IUI and that's when I got my first faint positive. However, I think @Happygal: got her sticky BFP testing a day earlier. FX for Monday!
apricot / 386 posts
I will probably wait as I don't feel very hopeful about this one. I had a lower progesterone level and I don't have any symptoms. I don't want to waste yet another test. I would rather see AF than a BFN.... again.
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thanks so much LAZYPANDA! I am sorry to hear about your loss and hope you get your BFP soon as well. I am getting more and more excited about my IUI. I sure do hope this is it. I go tomorrow morning for follicle tracking. Are you doing medicated cycles right now? I saw above that you will be taking a break....
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@fotolori1: yup, that's correct. I'm going to try to test around 12 DPO, but I might test earlier if I cave.
persimmon / 1479 posts
@Beebee: Hi there! Sorry, I must have missed this post or I would have responded sooner. In terms of plan, do you mean what were we trying? I typed up a bit of history below. But, please let me know if you have other questions Yes, I hope our IUIs are successful
I realized I never responded to the initial questions in the post (oopsies)!
So what's up? Anxiously waiting for our first IUI.
Where are you in your IUI cycle? CD 10 today, just waiting for LH surge.
How many IUIs will this be? The first one!
Diagnosis? Unexplained. DH had 3 SA. I've had blood tests to check my thyroid, test to check for ovulation, transvaginal ultrasound, hsg. I checked out ok, but it's still maddening that we aren't pregnant yet
Medications? Letrozole.
Other info? I'm also doing acupuncture in hopes that helps things too.
coffee bean / 26 posts
@WINTER_WONDER I just saw up above that you were going to take a break and was curious about what you have been trying. Thanks for posting your info.
I went into the RE yesterday for my follicle tracking and my RE said I have 3 nice follicles. I triggered last night and will have my IUI tomorrow at 4:30. Not quite sure how I feel about the 3 follicles, but am exciting and hoping for the best.
kiwi / 636 posts
@Beebee: yay for 3 follicles! FX for tomorrow's IUI! I'm currently on an unmedicated cycle due to being on 150mg of clomid for the last 3 cycles, 2 of which were IUIs. DH & I will be going for a third IUI/clomid cycle before we decide whether we will go with injectable meds/IUI or IVF. Hopefully I won't have to make that decision.
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thank you @ Lazypanda! Good luck to you on this unmedicated cycle. All of those decisions are so tough to make and decide what to do next. My RE is being pretty aggressive due to my age and low ovarian reserve, but I don't think we will do IVF. It is just too expensive. I am really hoping that we make it happen this way. I am hoping for you as well. I hate that so many women have to go through this. You would think with all the science that something would be done that helps people with infertility issues and the fact that most insurance does not cover these issues doesn't help either. Done with my vent session LOL
persimmon / 1479 posts
@Beebee: I'm thinking of you and hope your IUI goes well!
Ideally, my acupuncturist wanted me to take 3 months off without interventions (and no ttc). But, DH and I just weren't comfortable with this. We wanted to try IUI at least once this summer before school is in session again and my stress level gets out of control
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thanks @Winter_Wonder! It went pretty smooth. I had a little cramping afterwards, but not as bad as I though.
I can understand that. It's easier said then done. You guys do what you feel is best for you and I would definitely try again before school starts back up. Do you enjoy going to acupuncture? I thought about trying this as well, but am not too sure about it.
kiwi / 636 posts
@Beebee: yay for a smooth procedure! I hope you TWW flies by quickly & that there's a rainbow at the end of it!
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thanks so much @Lazypanda!!! I really hope so, but I am trying not to think too much into it. It is going to be a very LONG TWW. It always seems longer when you are trying something new. How are you doing?
kiwi / 636 posts
@Beebee: I'm doing well especially because I got my progesterone results back & I actually ovulated on a med free cycle! There's also the weekly infertility thread check in that you might wish to join. The ladies on there are very supportive & some have been through much of what we're going through.
@winter_wonder: do you feel acupuncture helps? I just set up my first appt with an accupuncture at who specializes in fertility.
coffee bean / 26 posts
That is great news! I am wishing you the best for this month and hope it ends with your BFP.
I will have to check out the weekly infertility thread. I am new to all this so I am not real sure where to go check out.
persimmon / 1479 posts
@lazypanda: This is a really hard question for me. I'm not sure. I often feel skeptical about the whole process. Even though my acupuncturist told me she's had a great deal of success treating IF, I sometimes feel like she's trying to rake in the money with all kinds of herbs. I get prescribing some herbs but it seems like more often than not, at each appointment she wants me to try something else. So...I would say maybe be a bit cautious about that? Or, see if you can get a print out of recommended herbs and then research it online.
I hope your appointment goes well and hope this post didn't bum you out. It's great that your acupuncturist specializes in fertility, I think that's a good sign! Please let me know how it goes!
@beebee: Yes, please check it out if you get a moment! I really enjoy updating (and hearing other updates) each week. Hope you are surviving your TWW
I'm barely surviving my wait for my LH surge, lol!
coffee bean / 26 posts
Thanks @Winter_Wonder! I don't even know where to go to find the thread. I tried looking for it under the infertility board interventions and did not see it. I found this one just by doing a google search and started reading everyone's stories.
