@swedishfish: It was the lucky socks that put it over the top. I wore them for all my monitoring as well as ER and ET i am hoping for the best for you and your LO

Just got my beta back, 261! My RE is having me take work off until my first ultrasounds to rest and let this ohss resolve. Hoping it doesn't get any worse. just got to tough it out, hydrate, rest.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: WOW! That is a number... looking like two could be a possibility http://www.betabase.info/chart/basic/twins
@MrsMccarthy: Thanks!

@mrswin: Sounds like a good, solid number (my first was 17dpo, so a LOT later)! FX for a happy, healthy little embryo and a blessed 9 months.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Wowie! I hear OHSS while pregnant with twins can be especially rough (not saying you are..but wow!)... I'm really glad that you're able to take off work until things cool down! Hope you feel better fast!
@macintosh: That sounds awfully frustrating.... That's great news that your DH didn't need surgery, though! I'm glad your stims are going well!
@Jenn23: I hope your little embies are just getting nestled in for a nice, long stay!
Updat on me: my docs conferred and have recommended that I have a D+C next week (Friday), if nothing has happened in the meantime. I have to work the rest of this week, which is part of the reason for the delay...and there are some work snafus we will be working around next week, making Friday the best day. It's not that I really want to...there are just no other reasonable options (and no one can guess how long this would go on otherwise). My first D+C (2012) wasn't bad...I'm just hoping for no scarring and a nice healthy lining when we're ready to try again. Thank you ladies for the good thoughts!

@FliegepilzHut: I'm sorry things are not progressing very quickly for you. That must be so frustrating, on top of working through the emotional pain. (Hugs)
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: It's definitely frustrating, but I'm definitely doing better emotionally. That may change during the upcoming hormonal flux...but for now I'm feeling fairly hopeful. Thanks for checking in! How are you feeling?
kiwi / 613 posts
@mrswin: Ha! I'm sure it was the lucky socks! I need to get a good pair of those! Congrats on the beta!!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Yay to you too for a positive beta! Such a blessing! When will your first ultrasound be?
@macintosh: Good luck with the next few days of stims!
Question: how many betas do you do with your clinic? My first one is scheduled for 18dpo, but I'm going to call my nurse tomorrow to see if I can go in Friday (15dpo) instead, with a repeat on Sunday. I had a tiny bit of spotting again today, and I just want to see if I'm headed for a chemical, or if things are ok and this is just "normal" bleeding. Since my early miscarriage (6wks) started with spotting last time, I'm just not trusting this one yet or letting myself get too excited. If a second beta shows progress, I think then i'll be able to breathe a bit easier.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: FX you can get the earlier beta! I know how nerve-wracking these early weeks can be (but I have high hopes that this is the "good bleeding")!
persimmon / 1316 posts
@mrswin: That thought crossed my mind! We will see
@FliegepilzHut: Glad to hear you are feeling hopeful throughout all this. Did they say how long you have to wait after the D&C to start trying again? Praying you heal well. Yeah, I had a feeling my betas would come back high by the way I have been feeling.. Just praying my ohss doesn't get worse. I know it can get worse before better but hoping I hit my max.
@momazon: My clinic does 3 betas. 9dpt, 11dpt and the 3rd I am guess 13 dpt but not 100% sure on timing of the third. My next beta is friday then go from there. Sorry to hear you are still spotting. Are you still testing to see if your line is getting darker? I know it isn't 100% accurate doing it that way but might give you a little reassurance. Hoping it is nothing and you can get your beta early for piece of mind!
persimmon / 1085 posts
@macintosh: You are about half way there today!! That's great!! I know, the sleepiness was awful. I am not a napper and was napping every afternoon. Hang in there!!!
@momazon: My clinic usually does two betas, but I had to have three the last time since it didn't double the 2nd time. What's weird is last time my beta was 16dpo, but this time it is scheduled for 14dpo. So they moved it up. Weird. I'm so hopeful for you!!!!! The bleeding could be from the implantation or just irritation. I actually had bright red heavy bleeding at 8 weeks with my son and we thought that was it and it turned out fine. Thinking good thoughts for you!!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Sorry you are still feeling sick!!I hope you've reached the "max", too and start to feel better and fast!!!
@FliegepilzHut: You are so amazing with your positive spirit and attitude. I love that about you! I'm feeling so bad for you, but so glad you are doing better and handling this difficult time so well!!!
So I did the cheapie dollar test and got a super faint positive after a few minutes. So I guess the trigger is almost gone. Will test again tomorrow to see.
Hoping to feel implantation cramping today. I know it doesn't happen for most women, but I'm crossing fingers I feel it. Will make me feel more positive about this!! Scared of the embryologist call that should be coming soon.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Jenn23: hopefully that won't matter! Thinking positive thoughts for you!
@momazon: I had some bleeding with my first pregnancy. Stay positive! I think the Endometrin was irritating my cervix.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@FliegepilzHut: I'm so sorry you're in this limbo. It's terrible.
persimmon / 1316 posts
@Jenn23: I know what you mean about wanting to feel implantation cramping, A lot of my symptoms were thing I felt after ER and prior to transfer as well from my ohss bloating) so it was hard to tell but one thing I had heard from someone who did IVF was that it felt like she did a ton of sit ups and thats how I felt. Like I had a good ab work out! So sorry none made it to freeze hun.. I know it put the extra stress on that this cycle but just remember you have 3 maybe babies right now inside of you! Feeling so so positive for you.
I am still feeling miserable. It is really hard imagining feeling like that for weeks + more. There is just no relief between my awful stomach bloating and back pain. Just trying to make it one day at a time. Having nothing to do all day but lay on the couch makes the days drag on. Just about to finish up the Big Love series. Any other shows you recommend watching to pass time? Or any good books?
persimmon / 1085 posts
@swedishfish: Thanks. Hope you are doing well!!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Oh my, was hoping you'd feel better by now. Why does it take so long to feel better? Like what needs to happen for the OHSS to improve? I never knew it could last so long. I'm so sorry!! You must be bored out of your mind. I had an abdominal myomectomy in 2010 to remove a bunch of fibroids (start of my infertility battle) and spent 5 weeks at home recovering and thought I'd go mad from the daytime tv!! My husband would come home for lunch and I'd be watching these cheesy Lifetime movies. haha Couldn't find anything else! Hang in there.
@mrswin: Just saw that I forgot to post earlier about your beta. Yay!! That's awesome!!!

@mrswin: yay! exciting & solid beta! congrats!
@FliegepilzHut: I'm sorry about the stuck in limbo stage. You are an incredibly strong woman and I love how positive you remain throughout this.
@momazon: FX that its implantation!
@Jenn23: I'm sorry about not having any to freeze. I'm hoping that there are none to freeze because the embie you have in you is your LO in 9 months!
persimmon / 1316 posts
@Jenn23: The OHSS is from getting pregnant. Because I have HCG in my system now and it keeps getting higher (hopefully) it is what the OHSS feeds off of. It can last through first trimester when the HCG levels finally level out. But some people feel better after a few weeks so I am hoping thats the case for me.
@lazypanda:If it was twins I think I would be over the moon for a boy and girl! Just to have one of each right off the bat would be awesome. But I think there would be a lot of relief finding out it is just one after all too. Just easier. But I will be thankful for whatever comes my way. But twins would explain why my ohss came back so bad.

@mrswin: thanks. Luckily DH was cleared to continue PT today by his doc at rehab and he did a great job walking today I'm trying to drink plenty of water. Even my wedding ring has been tight.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: thank you! Hope you start feeling better soon.
@FliegepilzHut: thank you. You're so strong and supportive
@momazon: Thanks, I'm having a rough time but I feel like a huge wimp cause I know this is just the beginning.
@Jenn23: yes, I am counting down the days on my whiteboard on my fridge - motivation!
I have had a headache all day! One of these follies better be my baby I had my monitoring today (day 5 of stims) and got my results. I didn't have a chance to ask any questions because the doctor isn't there, just the sonographer. She said my right ovary looked good but my left isn't progressing as quickly. I got a message to increase follistim from 200 iu to 250 and start Ganirelix tonight. Next monitoring is on 8/12 so I think the ER will be on the 14th or 15th.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Wish I knew.... I know I'll at least need one cycle afterwards...and some of the tests (chromosomes, especially) take 4-6 weeks to come back. So I'm guessing it will be November, probably. I'm so sorry you're feeling so rough! Is the bloating all fluid or has your gut slowed down, too (sorry if TMI)? I sincerely hope you feel better soon!
I will think about book/movie/show recs..,
@Jenn23: @swedishfish: @lazypanda: You all are too kind. Thank you!
@Jenn23: I'm sorry for that piece of news...hopefully one or more LOs are busy making themselves at home!
@macintosh: Thanks! Hang in there!

@FliegepilzHut: Thanks I'm sorry that the meds aren't working for you and you have to do the D&C. I hope that the procedure goes well and that you get some answers from the testing so that you can do an FET in the fall.
@momazon: My clinic does 2 or 3 depending on the doctor and patient. If the 2nd isn't definitive then they do a third. My first on was 14dpER and the second at 16. FX that the bleeding isn't an issue.
@Jenn23: I'm sorry that you didn't have any make it to freeze but FX that your LO is snuggling in right now!
@lazypanda: Thanks!
@macintosh: Thanks! Glad your DH was able to get back to his PT. You are almost there, your ER will be here before you know it!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I hope you are able to get the OHSS under control soon.

So I went to the RE clinic this morning just for a routine blood check to see how my estrogen and progesterone levels are. The nurse said no news is good, so hopefully I don't get a phone call. I verified with her that the beta should be next Friday which is 11dp3dt and she said, "Oh no, that is too early". She saw where it was written in my chart and said that was a mistake and to schedule it for Monday, the 18th instead. So now it will be 17dpo. So late! Grrr!
@lazypanda: Thanks!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Oh wow, I had no idea that being pregnant makes OHSS continue. That's awful. I'm so sorry.
@mrswin: When do you get your 2nd beta results?
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Jenn23: Hopefully soon....just waiting for my clinic to call, I went yesterday afternoon.

@mrswin: Fingers crossed for you!!! Hope you are feeling well. Any symptoms yet? Or not really?
persimmon / 1316 posts
@macintosh: glad things are moving along! I am sure the increase in follistim will get your other ovary in gear!
@FliegepilzHut: Thanks, all the bloating is fluid. So no easy fix. I am in better spirits today though. Feeling like total crud all day can really bring me down. Sorry it could be such a long wait before you get get back into gear but sounds like it might be just in time for a little Christmas miracle! I always thought getting pregnant around the holidays would be extra special
@mrswin: Thanks! Hope beta #2 is perfection!
@Jenn23: Oh man what a bummer to have to wait longer! Sorry, hope the days don't drag on too slowly for you.
So I went back for my 2nd beta today. It came back @ 580 so it double well. They wanted to schedule my Ultrasound for 2 weeks from today but I will be out of town so we won't do it until the following tuesday. Was hoping to know how many were baking before the trip so I could tell my family while we were on vacation but guess it will be a mystery a few days longer.

OK, so this is totally TMI, but I have to vent to you guys, because only you all would understand. I had to take Augmentin for a week after my retrieval to prevent infection since my RE had to drain fluid and my retrieval "wasn't a walk in the park" as he told me at my transfer Monday. Anyway, I just *knew* this would happen...I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics. I told the nurse this morning at my blood draw and she said I shouldn't take anything and to just eat yogurt, take probiotics, and wear cotton underwear. I'm in really bad shape as of the last few hours and the thought of staying like this for days or weeks is NOT a good thought. She did say if I get worse to call, but I'm definitely not going to do anything about it if it hurts the embryos. Just wondering if any of you by chance went through this or know of natural ways to stave off the infection? I'll start taking probiotics tomorrow and stock up on lots of yogurt. I'm also worried that this infection could hurt the embryos. What do you all think?
persimmon / 1085 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: That's a great 2nd beta!! Sorry you'll have to wait for the ultrasound until after your trip. I'm so excited to find out if you are having one or two!!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Jenn23: I took yeast infection meds while pregnant. The OB told me to either get a prescription from her or to take the 7 day stuff. I'd call and say it's gotten worse and ask what to do. I do take a probiotic everyday but I don't know that it will work for this yeast infection for you. Feel better!
persimmon / 1085 posts
@swedishfish: I'm kicking myself so hard right now for not thinking to take probiotics while taking the doxycycline during stims and then the Augmentin this past week. I know what happens when I take antibiotics. The nurse seemed really hesitant when I mentioned it. I'll try the probiotics and yogurt, and then call in a few days if it isn't better. Thanks!!
pear / 1750 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: thanks, I hope so too. Wake up ovary! Although I can't imagine what I will feel like in a few days when they get even bigger. I'm sorry you're still feeling yucky, but glad your second beta was good. How many did you transfer, 2?
@Jenn23: that sucks, I hate yeast infections! I wouldn't be able to tough it out. Maybe if you don't want to take something internally you could use some topical clortrimazole? I take inhaled steroids for asthma and I once got thrush in my mouth. It was gross
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mrswin: Thank you! Hoping you get another good number soon!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Rats... If it got really bad, I guess they'd drain it? Thanks!
That would be a nice Christmas present!
@Jenn23: Ugh. I hope you don't have to deal with that for weeks....
persimmon / 1316 posts
@Jenn23: What a bummer I'm sorry:( Don't have any experience with that so not sure how unbearable it is but I think your plan of trying the probiotics and yogurt for a couple days and then seeing how it is from there is a good plan. Hope it gets better quickly!!
@macintosh: We transferred two little ones.
persimmon / 1085 posts
@mrswin: Been thinking of you and wondering how your 2nd beta turned out? I hope all is OK!
Going to start testing tomorrow, I think. Had some very mild cramps, including in my lower back on Friday evening. Also had a few cramps yesterday and then one drop of pink last night before bed. Trying not to get my hopes up, but hoping those are good signs.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Jenn23: No advice since I don't usually have this issue. My handout from the clinic says if you have a yeast infection during pregnancy then you can use the 7 day only but should see a doctor if it is the first time or if they become recurrent.
@macintosh: Hopefully your right ovary is catching up!
nectarine / 2433 posts
Sorry I went MIA ladies but we were up at the cottage for the weekend with no internet access. For some reason the clinic didn't call on Friday so I email Saturday and then they finally called. Beta #2 was good at 225 (34 hours doubling time)!
