Hello ladies!
I'm officially joining this thread because I have officially started the IVF process! For those of you who don't know me, I've been mostly active on the TTC 6+ months and IF Check-In threads. February marks 2 years of trying for us. I have PCOS, I've had 5 rounds of Clomid, 2 IUIs, been on Metformin since last May, and have been trying acupuncture since October. I have been able to ovulate on my own for the last two cycles. I had an HSG on January 12th, and my tubes were clear, so I officially fall into the "unexplained infertility" category, so we decided to move forward with IVF.
We had a consultation appointment on Wednesday, had the ultrasound, the test transfer, and several hours of discussions with the doctor, financial adviser, and nurse. I started birth control on Thursday and the nurse will be calling me on Monday to go over a lot of stuff, order my meds, schedule my first ultrasound, etc.
I do have one area of concern, perhaps any of you could give me some insight. I started my BCP on Thursday after confirming I wasn't pregnant, getting bright red spotting, and lots of cramping. I checked with my doctor and they were OK with starting the pill (I had to start by Thursday because of the "up cycle" of the facility). On Friday, I was cramping terribly again, but never really got a big flow. And today is Sunday, still "bleeding," but it's never gotten heavy. I don't know if this is something to be concerned about. I took another pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. I wonder if the estrogen in the BCP is stopping up my period...I don't know if this is going to be an issue. Anyone else have a very light cycle at the beginning of their IVF cycle and everything still panned out just fine?

@FliegepilzHut: what a milestone! I can't wait to get there.

@sarahnicole218: this last cycle I never got my period before they started me on BCP. I was really concerned about it. It turned out ok though. My body responded normally to the rest of the medications. When you stop bcp and start your next medication you'll have another period.

@Leialou: You're almost there! When is your first ultrasound appointment?
@sarahnicole218: Just wanted to chime in and say congrats!

@Leialou: Thank you so much, that's reassuring!
@FliegepilzHut: Thanks!

@FliegepilzHut: I need to schedule it still. My RE wants it in my 6th week and said the later the better. I'm going to call my local RE Monday and see if I can get on the schedule for 2/16 at 6w6d.

@Leialou: I think 6weeks6days is technically in your 7th (and very nearly 8th!) week! But by that point you will definitely see a baby (less blob-like)! I can't wait for your update!

@momazon: I got the green light! Started stims on Friday. 150u to start (vs 225 last time). Hoping it'll be a slower steady stim this time.

@sarahnicole218: My period during the start of BC for my IVF cycle was normal. The period after stopping the BC just before starting stims was always really light though, especially on Lupron, just a liner was good enough.

@PurplePumps: Thank you for your insight, I appreciate it. Excited for you!!

@FliegepilzHut: We are going to be delayed. I just found out on Thursday that we need two additional things (Counsyl testing for my husband and more bloodwork for both of us). I'm pissed about it as I could've gotten them done weeks ago if they had told me. Grrrrrrr... So now I think we are going to have to wait to even pick a donor until we get back from holiday at the beginning of march (we leave feb 14th and the counsyl results prob won't be back by then.) We'll see.

@sarahnicole218: Welcome to the IVF thread! Sorry you have to come here, but we are happy to have you!
@PurplePumps: Excellent! All the best for excellent fertilization results this time around!

@momazon: Rats, I know how frustrating that must be. But the time will fly! Wishing you the very best luck and a sticky LO!!! Please keep us updated.

So my nurse just called me to discuss everything for this cycle...holy moly it's happening so fast!
I have my first ultrasound and injection teaching scheduled for next Monday, February 9th. At this time, they will check the ovaries and uterine lining and all that jazz. My hiccup and area of concern here is that I never had a full on period when I started BCP and she said that was the purpose of the ultrasound, to make sure everything still looked ok...and if not, we'll delay. So that will cause me some anxiety over the next week, but I will try to focus on relaxing! But assuming all goes well and they decide to move forward, my last day of BCP will be February 11th, I'll start injections on February 14th (Happy Valentines Day!) and then she even gave me a projected retrieval date of anywhere between February 24th-26th. Umm, what?! All of this could happen in this month? This is nuts! Crazy exciting...and scary!

So today is 5dp5dt (is that the right way to abbreviate it?) and I tested. It was negative, but it's still early. Though, it does cast a bit a doubt in my mind today that it might not be the cycle. Stupid POAS. I always forget about the reality of the negative test. (As much as I wanted to see the sticks turn from negative to positive, it's still hard. How long have I POAS and still don't learn to just wait.) It's okay, it's still early and I still have time to get the BFP. I'll probably skip tomorrow POAS and wait til 7dpt.

@bluestriped bee: It IS early...there is still time for that stick to turn positive and boy am I praying for you!

@sarahnicole218: Thank you. It is still early. It's equivalent to 10DPO, so it is early. I'll relax and not think about it it today and tomorrow and I'll test on Wednesday.

@bluestriped bee: It is still very early but I know the negative still sucks. During my fresh cycle I tested the trigger out at 3dp5dt and got a negative. I didn't get a positive until 7dp5dt but I don't know if I would have seen one earlier than that if I had kept testing.

@bluestriped bee: ah my heart just skipped a beat when I saw you posted here! 5dp5dt is still super early (10dpo) so try to stay positive!

@bluestriped bee: I'll echo everyone else and say there's plenty of time left- my bfp was so so so faint at 5dp5dt. I know the negative stings after all this waiting. But if this turns out not to be the cycle, just think of all those frosties you have waiting for you-- you got great results from your fresh cycle and it might just take an extra transfer or so till you find the right little embryo!

Hi, everyone! I did IVF about a year ago, and had twins in August. They were preemies, and things have been crazy. Now, life is just starting to normalize.
I wanted to come here to say hi and to cheer on all of you that are going through the process!

@ShayNanigans: That or I only have 4 of those cheap wondfro HCG tests. Gotta save them! Haha. DH said I should go out and buy the real ones. I told him I have the real ones but I will only use them if I get a positive on the cheap ones.

@bluestriped bee: FX! What are you doing to keep your mind off grabbing that stick!
I had a monitoring appt this morning, 1 dominant follicle at 12mm, and apparently about 15 more under 10mm just on the right side. She was relieved to not really see less on the left, maybe 10 or so 8-10mm. Next check on Friday!

@PurplePumps: Fx...I hope everything continues to look great for you!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@PurplePumps: Telling myself that I don't want to see a negative test again. That's what's keeping me from testing today. Tomorrow, it will be 7dp5dt (or 12 DPO), so I'm hoping I'll have a better chance at seeing a positive.
