Hi ladies,
So we just did IVF#2 at a new clinic from our first one, and we are currently waiting to see if our 2 embryos make it to day 5 for PGD testing and I feel like I'm reliving the nightmare of our first failed IVF.
I'm 32 and have poor quality eggs apparently, even though all my diagnostic testing came back normal. We thought it was just a sperm issue originally, but now we have this. It seems like every step of the way reveals more and more bad news. Will it ever end?
This time, out of 14 eggs retrieved, only 6 were mature and only 2 fertilized with ICSI. We are devastated. (Last time 14 retrieved, 10 mature, 2 fertilized, chemical pregnancy from a 3dt. So the #'s are scarily similar). Our clinic now only does day 5 transfers. We elected to do PGD so we could get some sort of answer as to what's going on but I don't know if we'll even get to day 5 for a biopsy, which is when they take a sample.
The chance of those two embies it to day 5 are so slim that I'm already onto plan C. But I'm still hoping for a miracle. I'm just being realistic.
Anyway, I guess I'm looking for stories about ladies who've had similar situations as me....having normal test results but poor quality eggs and if IVF worked for you, what did you do differently?
We're going to try IVF#3 with our own eggs and sperm for the last time, but after that we'll be pursuing DE and maybe DS (we also have poor sperm count and quality). My nurse said we can add DHEA and a growth hormone and treat me as if I were an older patient, even though I'm 32. Ughhhh
Would love to hear your stories!
