Major lurker, but could you put me down for the 18th? First month officially TTC, thanks! Sorry so late to the game

Hi ladies! It took a long time to read through all those threads but coming out of lurk status. Learned a lot! I feel like such a newb at this. We decided to take take the goalie out of the net just recently and took the plunge into TTC. My cycles are always 28-30 days but last month it was 37 due to work travel overseas, moving, and exhaustion in general (this was definitely an outlier cycle). I don't use an opk.... Just an iPhone application that tracks and predicts my fertile / O days and I'm wondering if that's good enough. We are more in the "let's see what happens" camp vs trying to nail down the exact days it's optimal to get preggo, but now that we've gone unprotected, I find myself antsy. We BD'd on CD7, CD9, and CD16 without knowing what days we were in the cycle. According to my iPhone app, I'm currently fertile but I have no idea when I'll actually O, aside from when my iPhone app predicts, which is on CD19 (aka three days from now). Maybe we'll try to BD every other day until the end of this week but I feel like I already missed my window because my app was calculating based off an usually long last cycle. I guess we'll just "get busy", wait and see....
How long is it before a pregnancy test can measure hormones?
Thanks lovelies!

@abgab10 @supernovaj: good luck! i am also in my 1st cycle TTC. no wisdom to share...just wanted to say hi!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@SupernovaJ:
welcome!! Good luck to you.
Which app are you using? I know a lot of ladies here use Fertility Friend, and they have had good success with tracking that way. Are you monitoring cervical mucus or taking your temperature, by chance? Not everyone does, but it can help you to figure out where in your cycle you are.
You typically have to wait at least 10 or so days after ovulation to be able to take a test, hence the "two week wait"-torture, no??
If you've got other specific questions, feel free to ask. There's bound to be someone around here who can help!
Baby dust to you!!

@SupernovaJ: I would say the iPhone is enough until its not! If you guys are both taking a more relaxed approach, no need to add more stress by trying to track things. More than likely you will get your BFP soon! If that attitude changes, an iphone app alone isnt the most reliable bc it cant predict your luteal phase which is important for conception. Fertility Friend is a great one to try and can help track other ovulation signs! Everyone on this thread is so helpful and kind so dont be afraid to ask anything!! Pregnancy tests can start detecting HCG 4-5 days before missed period (First Response Early Result) but they arent always right that early, so keep testing or wait till your period is supposed to show and try again! Good luck to you guys!! And welcome to the board!

I would like to go on record as saying that it is pure torture not to be able to BD during the O window. I know that waiting is going to help us figure out how to have a sticky baby, but gaaaahhhh. That is all.

@jhd thank you! Good luck to everyone TTC
Wow everyone is so friendly and informative. Thank you! @lovelyplum @citymouse. And I agree it seems it would be total torture to wait. That's why these boards seem so funny to me now... You just wait together through all the antsyness and wondering. And I use P Tracker on iPhone, will check out FF.
I don't measure body temp, and have just started thinking about CM more in detail. This might be TMI but I've always had a lot of "discharge", seemingly all the time so I always thought of that as a nuisance more than anything else and never even considered the different consistencies throughout the cycle and what they indicated.
Thank you truly for the warm welcomes and congrats to all the recent BFPs!

@LovelyPlum: Boo to waiting but yay for cracking the code for a sticky baby! The wait will surely be worth it!

@AuntieEm: @blueberrypie: Congrats ladies! Great weekend for the board.
It looks like my POAS date is going to be a little later than I initially thought. Had a crazy stressful, sleepless month, and it looks like it is screwing with my cycle. Still haven't O'd on day 19. Prior to this, I've always O'd on CD 14 or 15.
Does anyone know of any sleep aids that would be okay while TTC (especially natural options)?

Hi ladies! I'm so happy to finally join this thread! My TWW ends on the 22nd from my calculations - and through the p tracker app. This is our first month trying and we're hoping to have our children around 2 years apart - DS is 12.5 months.
Congrats to all the bfp's this months!

Welcome @mrsjets and @supernovaj! This is my first time TTC as well, all I use is an app because if I didn't then DH and I would be shooting blind. Good luck to everyone!

@LovelyPlum: I bet that really sucks!! Hopefully this is a healing time and your body is ready for a sticky baby after this!

@futuremama: Unisom is safe during pregnancy so I would think it'd be okay during the TWW.
persimmon / 1116 posts
@futuremama: Melatonin! Its what our body naturally produces to induce sleepiness and you can get it in the vitamin section. Almost 100% sure its safe during Pregnancy! Or, eat a lot of dark red cherries before bed. They are the most melatonin rich food.
