Switzerland has developed a "keurig" type of machine for making baby formula! It retails for $284! Ouch! I think this is kind of unnecessary. Would you purchase something like this?

Honestly, I think it's totally pimp.... but equally as unnecessary as the Keurig itself.

if you had loads of money lying around, or multiple children needing bottles often (say, 2 under 2 or twins/triplets/etc!) that would be awesome.
I'd never spend that for one baby, though.. we received our Keurig as a shower gift, but even so, myself and my husband both use it as well as when we have people over, so it's definitely paid for itself by now in saving us dunkin' runs!

@zippylef: I agree with "equally as unnecessary as the Keurig itself. "

That's awesome! It would be so convenient ... but that price tag. I'll admire it from here

Dude that's awesome. But those little k-cups have to be hella expensive, too. I don't think I could justify almost $300 plus the double cost of formula. Unless it was a gift.
That said, now i want a Keurig style latte maker that works with the push of a button. I saw that Starbucks makes one.

That. Is. AWESOME!!! If I had unlimited funds and used formula, I would TOTALLY get it!!! And I would get one for upstairs (nighttime feedings) and one for downstairs.

The cost of the machine wouldn't be a big deal to me but the fact that the formula itself is much more expensive than regular formula makes the whole thing pretty stupid to me.

I think it's pretty cool. I'm a nursing mom, but if I formula fed, and I could afford this, it would totally appeal to me. One of the reasons I'm for breastfeeding is the simple fact that it's so easy to not have to make up a bottle. I like things to be easy, lol.

I agree it's pretty badass, but definetely a luxury. The same thing could be said about my expensive stroller. I say if you can afford it, go for it!

I would soooooo get this if we had unlimited money! But since I've got breastmilk and formula only comes in to play for a bit between weaning and switching to cow's milk, obviously not a very good investment unless I sold it after I was finished with it.
I felt the same way about the Beaba Babycook. I didn't make purees but if I did I'd just use a blender. But unlimited money? Bring on the Beaba (and a chef to use it)!!!

@Alivoo01: love this!
I have to admit, I'd probably get this is I was EFF...especially if we had twins. I wish it wasn't tied into that brand of formula though.
And I love my Keurig and don't think it's unnecessary. It's a coffee maker like any other coffee maker.

lol anyone who says the Keurig is unnecessary hasn't owned or used one. So much faster, easier, and less messy than dealing with coffee filters and grinding the beans. If we had a house fire, I'd want to save it before running out the door!! It's a family member.

I love my Keurig too, but mainly bc DH works offshore so it makes sense just to make1 or 2 Kcups instead of a whole pot since it's just me...
I had to FF for a few days on 2 separate occasions due to H's Breastmilk Jaundice and it's so easy as it is!
I mean, I don't mind paying for convenience but that's over the top even for me! I truly enjoyed FF bc I was like "This is so frickin' easy! Whoever came up with this is genius!" I can't imagine it being any easier than running warm water and putting scoops in!

Totally obnoxious. I hate this. Marketing to make FF seem fancy and nice. Already living in a society where BF is perceived as low-rent, things like this really get me going.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@sloaneandpuffy: do you really feel like BFing is perceived as low-rent? I've felt the opposite, like there's so much pressure to make BFing work!

@PrincessBaby: I live in Mexico, a developing country, where bfing is indeed perceived that way. In a recent study a large percentage of people here who breastfed said they did so because they didn't have the money for formula. Formula companies prey on developing countries where people need a breastfeeding "culture" most of all and it makes me very mad. Nestlé is among the worst. I encourage all of you to have a google about the WHO code....

@sloaneandpuffy: i'm definitely going to google this when i'm not at work! So interesting. In the US it's such a high pressure "breastfeed or be judged as a terrible mother" culture. With celebrities saying thing like "if you don't breastfeed, you didn't try hard enough for your baby" and things like that.. it's nuts.

@prettylizy: I'm with you...it's definitely a luxury, but then again, so is a bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, disposable diapers, etc. You can argue that a pot of boiling water can warm a bottle, a stock pot full of boiling water can be a bottle sterilizer and cloth diapers work just as well, but are more work. It's all about what's important to you to make life easier!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@sloaneandpuffy: ohhhhhh...Wow! I'm about to google....
@LazyLightning: ditto! I feel like there's this stigma here that if you don't BF then you're not doing the best for your baby! But I had to FF 2x for several days and H still gained weight like a champ and was super happy so I think FF is fine! But there is so much social pressure to do it! Yes-and celebrities like Giselle!

That thing is awesome. Not going to lie – I would think about buying it; but I’ll admit I love gadgets like this. One thing that makes the price a little more reasonable IMO is that it takes like 4 minutes to heat up the darn bottles in the Dr. Brown bottle warmer. At 3am when bebe is screaming and pitching a fit; I’d throw down $300 to have bottles ready at the right temp in less than a minute!
