As my daughter will be starting daycare in Feb, I am starting to get prepared and labeling is obviously important and required in some cases. so experienced moms out there, what labels do you recommend for clothing, preferably no-sew options? For non-fabric items do you use a pre-printed label, masking tape and a sharpie, something else?

@snarkybiochemist: I bought a pack of dinkledoo labels on Groupon that were very cheap and have held up well on water bottles. And I have some Avery brand clothing labels that you write on with sharpie and just stick on the clothes. They also work on water bottles but will eventually smear- in the washing machine on clothes they’ve held up great.

I got labels from tinyme.com that have held up well (and are super cute). For clothing, I just write his name with sharpie on the label, but I believe tinyme also sells iron on or stick on labels for clothing.

We are straight masking tape and sharpie.

I got mini-labels from Oliver's Labels online - it's around $20 for 100 of them, and I bought two packs. They're waterproof, dishwasher/microwsafe, etc. I've used them on everything from bottles to clothes to bibs to boots and they've gotten us through two years of daycare so far and I still have tons left.

I’ve got orbit labels for bottles - now used for water bottles for my 5yo at school.
I also ordered the name labels that go on the tags from inchbug and they’re still going strong on clothes that my eldest wore, my niece and now my second daughter.
I live in NZ and every time my brother is sending me anything I order more tag labels so I never run out! -
I have used Mabel’s labels for years! They go on and hold tight to clothing tags, shoes, bottles and even pacifiers and only peel off if you want them to. I have some outerwear that my DD uses that still have DSs labels on them
they have good “pre-school/school packs” that have a variety of labels in them for clothes, shoes, and other objects.

I wash the bottles every day and the original masking tape is still going strong nine months later. I write her name on clothing tags with the fabric sharpie since daycare clothes could never be resold anyways!

When my son was infant he was assigned a color and they would label is bottles and food with the colored electric tape. It would have been a waste to get labels since they wanted everything color coded. Clothes I am terrible at labeling but mostly just sharpie on tags.
I use mabels labels now for cups and things but frankly the electrical tape worked just as great.

@snarkybiochemist: I use both name bubbles and Lee Lee Labels. Very similar products. Both are sticker labels for clothes and hold up through multiple washings no problem!

@snarkybiochemist: I started with just writing on her things with a sharpie, but I found it faded quickly (on things like cups, not clothes) so I edned up ordering a pack of Mabel’s labels for a great price on Boxing Day.
Keep an eye on some of the sites for deals, for me it was worth the $10 to not have to constantly write on all of her things. -

Inch bug orbit labels for bottles so I only had to write the date on a piece of masking tape each day.
Also use their labels for clothes and they are great.

I have used tinyme labels for DD's bottles and lunch box when she was at kinder. This year she will be at school and the principal advised us that everything will need to be labelled (especially clothing). She said forget the iron on labels - they can be peeled off and don't bother writing on the tags, they're easily cut off. So the solution is get the sharpie out, and write directly onto the fabric of clothing where it cannot be seen through the exterior - the inside of the collar, the placket of polo shirts, the interior pocket of pants/shorts/summer dress. I have just written our surname on it (its ethnic and not common at all), so I can reuse uniform for second DD.

We used https://www.inchbug.com/products/orbit-labels for bottles. I bought a four pack and that was all we needed since we only took 3-4 bottles to
School. At one point my daycare wanted the date placed on the bottles too and I used blue painter’s tape for that.For pantry food kept at daycare like whole wheat cereal we used painter’s tape or just wrote directly on the jarred food.
I didn’t label clothes because my LO had a dedicated cubby.

We use electrical tape and a sharpie. Never comes off in the dishwasher, stays on clothes, sharpie doesn't ever wear off. I still have some on sippy cups from 2012.

For clothes, I love these Avery labels from Amazon. They stay through laundry, but if you want to give away or sell used clothing, they're really easy to get off.

We didn't do labels on anything other than her bottles/food and for those we used masking tape and a sharpie. Never bothered labeling her clothes.
