H has taken a bottle like a champ ALWAYS. She had up to 3 bottles a day when I had a nanny keep her. I quit my job a couple of weeks ago, and have been home with her. Now, she flat out refuses a bottle so DH cant feed her. She is in hysterics right now bc we're trying to force it (we have to have that option for convenience, out in public/etc)...
Wth do we do?? She is ANGRY!!!!!

I just keep trying with different bottles or I wait until she is really hungry.
Can you leave the room while your DH tries with a bottle? Maybe she smells or sees you and wants it from your boob!

@autumnlove: Do their bottle preferences change? She's been taking playtex dropins forever! I dont know what to do! I'm trying not to give in...I left the room and DH has her in there but she is still screaming her face off!!!!

@PrincessBaby: Both of my daughters took Dr. browns bottles for the first 5 weeks and then never again! I had to try different bottles until it clicked again.

L started refusing bottles at 5 months. We STILL haven't been able to fix it. We've tried different bottles, different people, different locations, different temperatures, bait and switch while bfing, etc. She'll take an ounce or so, but that's it. We've started giving her a sippy cup or spoon feeding her the milk. She'll take a little each way - enough to postpone her next feeding - but that's it. If you fix it, tell me how!

I agree w/ @autumnlove: - my daughter took dr browns bottles very well until she turned four months old. Then suddenly she flat out rejected it. We tried various different bottles and finally found she tolerated: the Comotomo.
But once I became a SAHM at six months, she just flat out rejected all bottles. And we've been nursing exclusively since then.

@rattles: @MungBean: Oh shit:(. She is still screaming! My DH thinks I give in to her too easy (military!) and that if we just hold out on the boob for this feeding, she'll learn to take the bottle! Ugh!!! It sounds like a fight to the death in there!!!

We tried waiting it out, but she basically went on a hunger strike. I caved after she'd only eaten one ounce total over nine hours.

I have no advice since I lost the bottle strike battle both times.

@PrincessBaby: We use the playtex nursers and our LO had some bottle issues a while back. It turned out that there was something wrong with the nipple. I still BF so we had to buy new slow flow nipples to match my flow. Somehow the hole widened and the flow from the bottle had gotten too fast for him. Worth a try?

There is only ONE thing that worked when my LO would not take a bottle. We had tried EVERY bottle, even medicine droppers and tiny little cups. LO downright refused. The one thing that worked finally was....
I would start breastfeeding. Then after a few moments, I'd slip the bottle nipple in (I used Playtex Ventaire). So essentially, two nipples in LO's mouth at once. Then I'd pull myself out and LO would continue to suck the bottle nipple. Of course, he'd figure out what was going on and cry again. I'd go back to breastfeeding and after a few seconds, I would put the bottle nipple in again and then pull myself out. After a few times, he started to get the trick. It took a lot of patience but eventually this method was the ONLY thing that worked. Good luck!

K won't take a bottle if she knows I'm around. Party, at home, etc. but she'll take a bottle if I'm not home and she's hungry enough I suppose. Maybe try go run an errand it walk around the block while DH tries to feed her?

@chai728: Thank you! This worked and we will keep doing it until she's ok with the bottle again! She was sleepy and I BF'd and then slid the bottle in there and she would take it! Before that- it was ugly bc DH thought we should wait her out- misery!
