I'm interested in this. I got a medela Harmony through my insurance since I already had the pump in style. Used it today and was thoroughly unimpressed but I'm wondering if it was user error or something. It is handy that is uses the same parts since I use a bigger flange than it came with.

Lansinoh worked far better than the Medela in my experience. I actually almost never used my electric because I liked it so much.

It had a silicone sleeve that sat inside the entire cone and yes seemed to help with suction over the Medela. Not sure how this new one compares.

@Foodnerd81: A bit, but it was more just pumping really quickly at first to stimulate letdown from what I remember.

@jill_a55: I have the lanisoh as well and like it. It does have a silicone band around the flange. I get very good results with it, but I also have a robust supply this time.

@Foodnerd81: I really didn't have to massage at all. I just kinda figured out how fast or slow to pump to get it going. When I went back to work, I found that my output started decreasing, so I looked at pictures of DD and that seemed to get me going. I just liked that I could control the manual better than electric. It worked for me.

To answer your question, I had a Medela manual that I used exclusively for the first month or so. It worked relatively well, never had complaints.

When I was weaning, though, I had to go buy another pump (we did it cold turkey, and I was out of town). I bought a Lansinoh, and I LOVED that thing. It was so much easier to use/had better suction than the Medela manual. So I recommend that!
