@jhd: @mrskansas: Thanks guys. My husband was able to talk to the fertility clinic and they assured us that we would not have to pay 900$, they said something must have happened on the back end with the medical billing. They told us they were going to find out what happened and fix it. So that made me feel better, and I'm really happy my husband stepped up to the plate to take care of this.

@Tionn3: That's great that your husband took care of that for you. One less thing for you to worry about!

@mrskansas: Kaiser is just so ridiculous =[ I'm hoping we have a quick resolution to this.

@periwinklebee: I hope you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I find it helpful to remind myself every day that we're all just doing the best we can.

@periwinklebee: Yes. Mine is about 11 days, so it's not super long either. I think the most it's ever been is 12 days. I'm going to take some B6 Complex to see if that helps. Take care of yourself.

@Tionn3: I'm sorry that insurance is giving you such a hard time. It makes all of this worse when you have to fight even harder. Glad that your husband was able to get some correct information and you don't owe $900

@snarkybiochemist: Right?! I swear seeing that claim on Kaiser after my infertility support group just made me lose it. I think maybe what happened is someone in the medical billing department billed for the wrong procedure. I'm going to be pretty anxious I think until it is officially fixed.

@Tionn3: I'm sure someone just put the wrong code it, but it doesn't make it any less stressful. It sounds like there is a really good chance of this resolving and quickly

@Tionn3: Thanks! I feel like I keep intuitively grasping for something that will make me feel better and then realize that I'm already doing my best and that the main thing that will help is time. It is probably a good lesson to learn. I'm really glad your husband was able to make progress on the insurance front.

    @TTCBee: I hope the b complex helps!

@periwinklebee: Its a sucky lesson to learn that time sometimes heals some wounds the best

@snarkybiochemist: Right now I really, really wish I could take a giant eraser and just wipe the past two months from my memory - they hurt, a lot. But I know that life is very likely to bring (significantly) more difficult experiences, and I do hope that I can learn and grow from recent experiences, in ways that will be helpful later on. I've been wondering lately how women in their 50s and 60s, say, look back on experiences of loss or infertility, how often it's just a tiny blip versus a more formative experience.

  14. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@periwinklebee: I wish I knew how this would feel later in life, I think it would help me deal with everything now.

hCG came back at 85, so it dropped by 100 in 2 days. That's a relief. They are having me come back next Wednesday and I'm sure it will be 0 by then.

@periwinklebee: I think it's helpful to look towards the future and know that in 20 years you'll have the kids you were meant to have and the hurt associated with pregnancy losses won't be such a major part of your life. Thinking like that has helped me since I lost my baby when I was halfway through my pregnancy. My mom had a 2nd trimester loss and she said at times she still wonders what happened (they never tested the baby), but honestly she rarely ever thinks about the loss since it was 30 years ago.

My number was 89. I'm 4w6d based on lmp but may have ovulated later than usual but even still looks dismal. My midwives are annoyingly chipper about it being within range and I'll go go Friday for a second draw so "we can know more" just shit.

@knittylady: I'm sorry With my 1st miscarriage the nurse was really optimistic about my 100 hour doubling time and it pissed me off so much. I wish they would have been more realistic with me.
At least with the second beta you will have it documented so they can start running some tests.

@Tionn3: EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME IN DECEMBER! Sorry for all caps, but I was ragey. For blood work that they said they covered. And this wasn't federal blue cross blue shield, The Who's who of health insurance lol. I said, not today! I called, and the doctor's office put the wrong code. I just got an updated bill for $149, which is more in line with what I expected to pay.

@knittylady: I'm holding out hope for you. To give you some hope, I'm a notorious late ovulater and at 4w1d my first beta was 48. My RE didn't mention a thing about it being low. She said it was within range. It was only after DD was born did I hear about it being low. If it's still within range, I think that's good. So much hope your way.

@knittylady: I'm so, so sorry I find having a little bit of hope, but not much, to be the worst. I'm thinking of you...

@dc yoga bee: Kaiser is notorious for being really difficult to deal with when it comes to incorrect medical bills. It's like the Kaiser Hospital and the Kaiser Infertility Clinic didn't talk to each other or something. When my husband called member service they didn't even know what was wrong, and told us to call the infertility clinic. I really hope they get back to my husband tomorrow with a resolution.

@Tionn3: Ugh! I would be so mad too. I hope it gets resolved ASAP.

    @knittylady: Rooting for you!

My labs were normal, but my ultrasound results showed approximately 12 cysts (!!) on my right ovary and one on my left. My doc says it meets the criteria for PCOS (I don't have any other signs of it) and we'll talk about it further in a couple weeks at my appointment. Repeat ultrasound in 6-8 weeks.

I'm annoyed and saddened by it, but I appreciate that my husband doesn't commisserate with me about things unless it's really serious (life threatening, untreatable, etc). I told him to leave me alone for a while so he's off playing video games. Lol.

@madisonbee: I'm glad you have answers. I was wondering if that was the case based on your OPKs. What is your next step?

  26. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@madisonbee: PCOS is a scary diagnosis to get. I had almost all of the traditional signs of it and I was still in a funk after getting the formal diagnosis. Glad that your husband and you have a system for dealing with things. There are many ways to proceed forward in terms of treatment, good luck

    pear / 1677 posts

@mrskansas: I see her in a couple weeks to talk about it some more, so I guess we'll discuss next steps then. Also, with the repeat ultrasound in 6-8 weeks, so we'll see.

@snarkybiochemist: I'm not surprised, but I was hoping it wouldn't be. I'm not familiar with treatments for it, so I'm eager to see what she offers in a couple weeks.

@madisonbee: Metformin for insulin resistance, clomid or femera for ovulation is the general starting place. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, not that I'm an expert or anything, but I do know a few things

@madisonbee: I'm sorry about PCOS. I get wanting to be alone. DH got home just now and clearly wanted to help me feel better about not great betas and usually I'd be all for it, but I just took the chips he brought home and turned the office back on.

@knittylady: Thank you. I'll be thinking of you when you take the labs again. I'm eating chips and Chicago Fire by myself in the kitchen.

I just had sex 4 days in a row. I am too old for this! Got a OPK today, so, I think our streak is done unless we happen to feel real inspired tomorrow. When I was TTC LO my temps indicated that I ovulated <24h after a OPK, so, tomorrow would probably not be that useful.

@lilyofthewest: we did every day this cycle and I thought the same thing! Haha! Good luck to you!

ETA ED during my fertile window...just realized this sounded like we did it every day all month long! that would definitely not happen!
