I'm looking to buy BF supplies and read a lot of great reviews about the Medela Contact Nipple Shields. They offer 3 sizes, but it looks like I'm in between a small and a medium.
If you're familiar with them, what would you recommend - going up a size or down a size?

Going down might cause friction and problems, but going up may lead to problems too. Is there a lactation consultant you can contact about it?

Is there a reason you feel you may need them? I only ask because I get the impression they're kind of a last-resort thing and LCs might dissuade you from having them on hand because they wouldn't want you to use them for mild/normal pain, only if the road REALLY got rough.
