Did you always offer both sides? LO just nursed for 25 minutes on one side and i'm not sure if I should even offer the next side because i'm afraid changing her position will make her cry like a banshee.

In the very beginning I just offered one side at a time, because I had an oversupply. If baby seems content and you don't want to move her, I wouldn't worry about it. Others might have a better idea though. Good luck!

Congratulations on your sweet baby!! In the first few days I had no clue what I was doing...I think J ate on one side for a straight 45 minutes in the hospital! If she's slowed down/stopped sucking, I would see if she is interested in the other side to coax your milk to come in.

I don't always offer both sides, especially when he was a newborn. I had an over active letdown and oversupply and he was/is super efficient. He was usually content after 15-20 min on one side.
If baby seems satisfied, I don't think you have to offer both sides. It may help your milk to come in faster during the very first days though.

LO is 4 months & I have never offered her both sides. She's always seemed satisfied after one so I have never worried about it!

In the very early days, I would feed off one side, pop her off when she'd stopped actively sucking and feed her the other side after changing her nappy

In the very early days they told me 25 minutes per side, so I very carefully followed that to the letter, but as soon as my milk came in I never did it again! If your LO is feeding really frequently, I have very serious doubts that it matters. You want to make sure that you're stimulating both sides relatively evenly, but how you get there is really irrelevant, in my opinion.

I think we were told to switch sides after 15 min? If she was going for 25 min on one side I don't think I would offer the other. They let you know if they really need more.

@mskeee: agreed!
Do what works for you & your LO! If you feel that she's satisfied & happy don't worry about it. Follow your instincts! Heck, at the hospital my LO would sleep for 6 hours straight, the doctors said it was fine & I didn't feel anxious so I let her sleep & all is well. You know what is right for you!

One side only.
Block feeding has tremendously helped with our colic issues. I think she was suffering from too much foremilk.

LO is 5 months and I've always done one side per feeding. I do two feedings per side cause she eats often and that way she gets the hind milk. She's always gained weight fine. I have a quick letdown though. She usually just nursed for 10 mins.

One side over here. I'm well endowed in the boob department, and it worked well for my (big) supply to just do one at a time. Helped regulate me early on.

Is your milk in? If not, I would offer both sides each time, every 2 hours, to establish your milk. If it's in & you're engorged, then one side is fine.

In the very beginning I only offered one at a time. It wasn't until about 4 months that I started offering both because I just wasn't producing enough all of the sudden.

We teach the moms to offer both sides but if baby only takes one, it's okay.
