My sleep deprived brain can't figure out how to get a bottle ready for the first time. I have tomee tipee bottles - it says to place bottles in boiling water for 5 minutes before first use to sterilize - do I put the nipple in boiling water, too? I'm not sure if the boiling water will hurt the nipple.

I boil the nipples also and have never had an issue

I have the same bottles and I boiled the nipples too. They should be fine.

Yes I boil the nipples, that's the bit going on their mouth so you want it to be super clean

I never boil the bottles, just the nipples and nipple rings and any other silicone pieces.
Actually I just follow the instructions in the booklet. I think I did boil the avent bottles but not the playtex ventaire -

Sorry to thread jack but are you just getting your bottled ready or are you planning to start pumping/bottle feeing at this point. I would love to let hubs do a feeding and even more so I would love to know at one feeding a day exactly how much baby girl is getting. But I don't want to mess with the good thing we have going since she has started taking the breast well (with the sheild of course)

@MamaMoose: threadjacking too, but A has breast and bottle. She'll take it from both me and her daddy like a champ but her preferred is breast-pumping hadn't caused us any probs at all.

I boiled everything the first time and after that about once a month!

@travelgirl1: thanks!!! We have been syringe feeding what I pump but it sounds like doing a bottle should be ok too!
