Ok so I just finished my first round of clomid yesterday. I have my ovidrel shot ordered and it will be arriving on Saturday. I can't get in for an appt. for a scan with my doctor (scan of my eggs) until the 20th. That is on CD 13. Last month I got my LH surge on CD 12. So I am worried that my appt. will be too late and I will need to use the ovidrel shot on my own. When I asked for an explanation of when to use it etc. The nurse said it will be explained at your appointment. Can anyone explain ovidrel to me? When do you use it? When you do you have timed intercourse afterward, immediately.. you can wait a while? I haven't had a chance to discuss anything with my doctor and I am starting to panic.

My clinic gave me the shot and did the shot in the office then I had the IUI two days later. They might give you directions if you need to do it on your own.
You could have TI that night or the following night after the shot is given.
If this is your first TI with Ovridrel and you want to catch it before your surge, I would possibly see about delaying this cycle if you can't make it in.
I was not given my ovridrel shot until the ultrasound showed my follicles were ready.
Unless you have been taking OPKs, it sounds like you don't know when you might ovulate.
In your situation, I might delay my cycle until I know my schedule can allow me to go to all the appts.

Why can't they see you earlier? Or can you not find time?
I guess you could chance it and keep the appt as is.

I'm confused - without regular monitoring how do they know when your follicles are ready to go ahead with the trigger? From what I remember you ovulate 36 hours after the Ovidrel. With IUIs I always would trigger at 9pm and have the inseminations the next two mornings, so I would do something along those lines for timed intercourse.

@bluestriped bee: so originally the plan was for me to do Opks and guesstimate when I thought I was close to my surge. Then I would go in for my follicle scan. Opks are so confusing for me. I honestly don't really know the exact dates. I am going off of what my more experienced friend is saying. So I asked the doctor if instead they could pick a good date. So she could be totally correct I just worry that I will ovulate prior to my scan that's all. So if I ovulate before my scan which we will only know at my scan. I will save the ovidrel for next month. This is all so new to me. I probably sound so clueless! Newbie over here! It's a lot to understand and take in.

@Weswife: i did three medicated/ovidrel/TI cycles and I remember thinking during at least one of them that I was going to ovulate prior to the ovidrel. We had a bad snow storm so I couldn't get into the dr's office for my scan. They told us to DTD just in case and go in the next day. The next day at my scan I wasn't even ready for ovidrel yet so I was worried for nothing. I found that I actually ovulated later than I had originally thought.
Anyway, that being said I think having your scan on cd13 will be fine. I usually had my first scan on cd11 but I was never ready to trigger(ovidrel) on cd11.
You generally ovulate 36-48 hours after the ovidrel shot.
Our TI schedule was to inject shot in evening, TI that night and then TI 2 days later in the am. I have heard of different schedules though so yours might be different.

@Weswife: Are you seeing an OB or an RE at a fertility clinic? Not sure how long your friend had infertility for but most of the comments here are from people who suffered from infertility for a few years. Not sure how experienced your friend is.
If your clinic is not willing to monitor you earlier, then you have to be prepared that you might miss your window. By the way, my cycles were 33/34 days long and I would trigger (use ovridrel) on day 10-11 after being on femera. This was confirmed by ultrasound.
I guess if your dr said day 13 u/s fine then I guess you have to trust them.
Oh, I used OPK early on in my fertility journey but I had trouble catching the peak because my sleep was not consistent. That is when u/s were done to see when I was ready to trigger with ovridrel.

I would try to call your doctor or his/her nurse and get answers to these specific questions.

@Weswife: If this is your first medicated TI cycle and you are seeing an RE (not an OB), then I would trust your dr. The first few appointments are your clinic trying to learn how your body responds. Day 13 is normal for most people. If you miss it, then, yeah, you'll wait until the next cycle. Just trust the process. Trust me and others who have been in the IF process longer. I'm not sure how long you have been TTC for prior to your MC (I'm sorry for your loss). I think most of us in the IF group has been actively TTC for 12 + months or more.

@bluestriped bee: I am going through my OB office but seeing a fertility specialist. And since we had the choice this month to do just Clomid or add the trigger shot. I am gonna say even if I miss the shot it's ok. There's still a chance
