My LO (21 mos) is allergic to peanuts and few other nuts. He's never had anaphylaxis shock, but can suffer with horrible hives (anaphylaxis).

In the past, the hives haven't been too bad so Benaldryl has always been clutch for us. However, last weekend he got into some nutbutter had horrible bout of hives all over. My ped made me give him the epi pen then call 911. Again, he's never had anaphylaxis shock, but this really scared me. Anyone else's LO have a nut allergy and how are you handling things.

My ped actually told me the research shows that those children with mild case of nut allergies (like my little one) have higher fatality rate because parents don't think they need to rush them to the ER or administer the EPI. It was really an eye-opening experience for me. Just looking for support.
