Should I do a background check?
How do I know if she has a clean driving record?
My biggest thing is references so I'll be asking for multiple references.
Anything else? It's only gonna be part-time.

I don't have experience in hiring a nanny, but I know that my company has used one service that can do background checks, driving record checks and drug testing. I have no idea what the fees are, but it's definitely something that exists out there.

Should I do a background check? Yes. Some of my families didn't and some did but I think you should.
How do I know if she has a clean driving record? I'm not sure but I would be open to letting someone check mine.
Some questions to ask:
What is your ideal schedule with the baby?
What activities do you plan to do with the baby? Are you willing to do free things like story time at the library?
Are you part of a nanny/ play group in the area?My friend is on here way here so I'll add more later.

@travelingnanny: I'm more worried about whether the person is legit more than anything lol! So far DD is being taken care of by family only (she is 4 mo) so even if it's just 2 days a week, I am so nervous about leaving her with a stranger in my house!
She would have to follow my schedule anyway and I'd just make sure she knows how to handle breast milk, and let her know DD's preference on how be fed and how to put her to sleep, etc.
