Have you seen this article? It's from last month but I just read it today. I thought after 2+ years, I knew a lot about breast milk, but I learned so much from this. Plus, it's a really good argument about why we need more support for breastfeeding as a public health issue. Paid parental leave, to start!

I have seen this circulating around and finally read it. We all know that "breast is best" but it's one thing for agencies to tout it's importance and a whole other to provide mothers the opportunity to do so.
This excerpt says it best: "If we're telling women that they should breast-feed exclusively for six months, then we should give them—at minimum—the same amount, six months, of paid family leave."

I found the part about HOW our bodies produce antibodies to help our babies fight sickness to be absolutely fascinating.

@MamaB: yeah that blew my mind! I mean, it makes sense, but... Woah.
Also the stuff about the foods you ate as a child or teenager still impacting your bm. Just like the example in the article, I'm a vegetarian now but ate meat as a kid/teen.

I read this recently too, its absolutely amazing. I just recently quit pumping after 13 months and I still doubt myself if I made it long enough for LO!

Wow. Women's bodies are remarkable. Regardless of how you end up feeding your baby (because, let's be honest, a fed baby is best!), learning that a human body is capable of such intricate scientific adjustments is incredible.
