I would wean. Sounds like he's done and if he's not waking to demand it I wouldn't continue waking him in the morning. Good job, mama!

I would just play it by ear for a week. Use the "Don't Ask, Don't Refuse" method. If he's not awake and asking, don't offer it.

Sounds like my DD - one day I tried to get her to nurse and she cried so I stopped offering and she never asked again - she was 15 months!

Do you have any sense of how much supply you have at this point? I found that once we moved to just one session a day (at wake up), my supply plummeted to practically nothing. (This was right around 13.5 months). DD was essentially comfort nursing at wake up, and then wanted breakfast. Like Xander, she just wasn't all that into it... so - like PPs have suggested - I used that opportunity to completely cut the cord. She didn't care. Not even a tiny bit. I just started offering a straw cup of milk at wake up.

Within a few weeks, she didn't even care about having the milk first thing... now (15.5 mo) she wakes up slowly and then we go straight into breakfast (where she gets milk with her food). I loved BFing and was sad to wean, but honestly - she was ready. And our mornings are so much easier now.

L would comfort nurse for hours even though I was sure there was nothing left. One morning I just didn't offer and it was like she didn't even notice. She asked for it maybe twice in the following days but was happy enough when I handed her a sippy of milk.
It sounds like he's ready.

@septca: I had a harder time with it than she did! silly girl.

@Adira: We've replace the morning nursing snuggle with a morning milk straw cup snuggle. She sits in my lap while drinking her milk and I have my coffee. It's actually really nice.

I would take the opportunity to wean. If he's up and asks I might oblige but it seems like you're the one continuing it. Should be an easy transition (for him!). Way to go mama! Great job!

Yes! He is ready! I wish my son were even close to this. We have one session and he gets so excited for it still. I have to cut him off like a drunk. Xander sounds ready and I've heard nursing in pregnancy can be painful. I'd go for it!
