My LO is 5 months and I'm starting to prepare for the process of introducing her to a sippy cup. She is EBF for now and I don't really give her a bottle...she'll take it without a problem, but only drinks a few ounces and then pushes it out with her tongue. Anyway, just wondering what sippy cup I should buy

they all suck haha. i actually have a post coming up this week on all the sippy cups i've purchased (seriously like 20!).
sippy cups are really hard for young babies, and i found straw cups to be a lot easier for them. try the lollacup.

My LO doesn't understand how to suck from a straw. I got her one that is supposed to help transition from a bottle though, so I don't have any good advice for you. Can't wait for @Mrs. Bee's post!

yeah, sippy cups do suck! i found that the simplest ones worked the best. like the tilty cup or the take and toss ones. for a straw cup, we have the lollacup.

@NYCaliMama: i wouldn't say a lot but i don't throw it in my bag or anything. but if the LO doesn't put it back on the table upright, then some milk will leak out.

We have had the best luck with the playtex twist and click soft spout with handles. I took the valve out at first for DS to figure out there was liquid in it, then once he got the hang of it, I put it back in and he drinks well from it and it doesn't leak.
Herbert and Nuk make cups with a similar valve setup and DS has used those as well.DS doesn't get the concept of a straw yet.

@Andrea: okay thanks! I'll give it a shot I think! We've bought so many sippies and straw cups... I'm hesitant because the lollacup is sorta pricey, but good to hear the leaking isn't too bad.

@NYCaliMama: i know, it is such a waste of money! i am sure a lot of moms have a mini collection. i'm glad that DD is to the point where she can just drink out of a regular open cup or a bottle of water. it is so much easier! OH! have you tried a camelbak bottle?? i don't use it for milk but DD likes to drink water out of it.

We got a bunch. I LOVE THE ZOLI straw sippy! LO loves it too! It's the only one she drinks from!

@Andrea: So at first I thought it looked great, but for my 4 yo... not my 9 month old. But then I read a review that a 9 month old took to it well! So I'll check it out! I might even get an adult one since I've been looking for the perfect water bottle for myself too! Haha. Thanks!

At how many months do you typically introduce sippy/straw cups?

@regberadaisy: I think around the time you start introducing solids. My handout from the pediatrician at LO's 4 month check up had "introducing sippy cup" as something to look ahead to...so we will be talking about it at her 6 month check up.
