do you squeeze your boob and hold onto it while nursing so that it's easier for your lo to maintain a good latch? i used to do that throughout the entire nursing session in the beginning.

Are you bigger breasted? I only ask because if you are it could be the weight causing you to slip. Try placing a rolled up hand towel underneath maybe?

Is it causing pain for you, or is she fussy or satisfied after feedings? My LO had a textbook latch until about 2 weeks. Then she altered it and I started worrying. But, I had no pain, and she was satisfied and growing, so all is good. Maybe it will be the same for you. The ped and LC said that just because it's not textbook doesn't mean that it won't work.

@TheHistoryofUs: My LO is 5 days and I am having to do the same thing . . . good to know that your LO grew out of it, as so far, BF has been a very difficult process that I am determined to work through, but it is not without its challenges.

They totally do grow out of it. I feel like that was one of the biggest things I didn't know about BFing. I saw all these women nursing causally lounging on the couch or in a rocker. People that posted to FB or HB while nursing. I couldn't do ANY of that. I literally was frozen in one position. Slowly though I started being able to use one hand to do something while she was nursing and now, I think I could wash dishes and she would latch on if I let her!
