@delight: Dang. CD8 was just when I got my "peak" on my OPK, the only reason I thought I may have Od then. Those things really screwed me this cycle!

@TrailRunner: I've never used the smiley OPKs, but I've definitely missed my surge using the OPKs with lines. I can see the lines getting darker, but never positive, and then see them fade out again. I temped though, so I had back-up confirmation of O. What is with all the wonky cycles/tests this month?
kiwi / 585 posts
@kiddosc: the problem is my temping is not really helping me out. I missed Saturday and Sunday bc a friend got married and made us do "slumber parties" and I wasn't about to bust that out since nobody knows I'm TTC. The rest of my temps are so wonky. Ugh. Ok rant over and back to trying to be positive. Thanks for your input!

I've never been this happy for AF to arrive but woohoo!!!! I can "officially" start tracking my cycles & TTC I don't know what the heck happened but I'm just thankful AF is here. So whatever I felt and why my period was a week late was crazy but I'm happy to have a answer and moving on! my cramps are fierce right now (ouch!!) so hopefully AF goes away quickly

@jh524: glad you have some answers. Good luck on this next cycle!
@TrailRunner: my morning temps are always wonky. I get up a lot at night. I find that if I consistently temp during the day then I can use those temps to help pinpoint O. I know you aren't supposed to temp during the day but I know that if mine is around 98.0 that is before O and once I get to a normal 98.6 during the day I have O'd.

Dear experienced opk'ers..... with my cycle being so off last month I bought a pack of wondfo's and I've been testing once a day and they've all been negative. Although on my app if I go off of my "normal" cycle I should have been in my fertile window last week. Should I go off of the opk's? or the app?
I'm only testing once a day.. so maybe I missed my surge?
HALP!?!??!....new to this opk stuff and need guidance
ETA: I don't chart or temp .... just don't want to ...

@Ajsmommy: I had this exact same situation this past week. My app said I was supposed to O last week, and I got a little bit of the egg white CM, but no positive on the OPK. But then I ended up getting my positive OPK this past weekend and very heavy egg white CM. So, I guess I o'd later than normal this cycle. Have you had any CM?
pomegranate / 3355 posts
@TrailRunner: no CM, not any really
so you'd say to go with the opk's? how often did you test (1 or 2 x's/day?)
kiwi / 585 posts
@Ajsmommy: I test once a day at the same time. Are you testing in the afternoon? Yeah, I def go with the OPKs and CM over what my app predicts. I tried temping, but that is apparently not working out very well for me.

So, I had some crazy cramping Friday (got my peak Thursday and BD'd)...wondering if that was really O or maybe something else. It was crazy for about 8 hours I had cramping feelings - sometimes localized to a side but mostly just in the middle.
Anyone else have this? Its only my second cycle of BC - so maybe that has something to do with it?
Anyways - only got to BD on Thursday...so fingers crossed it worked!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Ajsmommy: I trust my wondfo OPKs over checking CM and temping. I use them once a day (4pm) until the second line starts showing more clearly. Then I test 2x at 10am and 4pm. I try to do a 3 hour hold each time. I find when its positive it's very obvious. I ovulate on different cycle days so it's helpful for me to use them.
grapefruit / 4278 posts
@Ajsmommy: I would trust the OPKs, it's pretty rare that you have a stark white OPK leading up to and after ovulation. I would sometimes miss the surge, but I could see the line fade in and fade out. I just sometimes missed the positive. Especially if you didn't have CM either.
I think that my issue with TTC #1 was timing. The app I was using was telling my fertile window, but it was way off. Once I started using OPKs and temping I found out our timing was all wrong.
kiwi / 585 posts
@Mrs D: I would assume that's what it was? Idk...I usually get cramps around O time too, so I always assume that's what it is. It did take me a while for my cycles to become regular after stopping the pill tho. Hopefully that's what your cramps were and you had good timing!

Experienced POAS-ers... if I were to test at 13dpo with FMU, would I be right in thinking it would be pretty unlikely to get a false negative?
grapefruit / 4085 posts
Hi ladies! I know I haven't been active in this thread but have been reading along. I tested at 9 dpo and got a stark white neg. decided to test today at 13 dpo and got this line! Still in complete shock and hoping this sticks! Congrats to all the BFPs and GL to everyone still to test and those testing in July
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@fancyfunction: Congrats!!!!
I finally got crosshairs.... I don't really believe them but they put me at 8dpo today. I tested yesterday when i would've been 10DPO if I O'd CD8 like my OPK said. I'll probably test again Thursday.

@fancyfunction: Yay!
Finally got crosshairs that put me at 5dpo. Having a super wonky cycle this month! I'm really type-a so even though this is our first cycle ttc, I can't help but be a little stressed/nervous! I'm thinking that I won't chart next month and try to relax a little more...

@kiddosc: @csross217: @Bubbles: @JoJoGirl: @Ajsmommy: thank you ladies!
Just got a positive on a digital too and have a dr appt scheduled for Jul 21. But waiting for the office to call me back to see if I can come in this week - my progesterone was low in my last pregnancy and I really want it tested to see if I need to take medication again. I can't wait a whole month - I'll go crazy!
persimmon / 1129 posts
@Bubbles: As an "early and often" POAS-er, I would say you're generally right that 13dpo is unlikely to be a false negative. But baby making is so mysterious and confusing and weird, so there are always exceptions! I'm pretty sure there are people on HB who didn't get a positive until after 14dpo. Also, it depends how sure you are on your dates and what kind of test you use.
That probably didn't really clear anything up for you...
persimmon / 1328 posts
@My Only Sunshine: thank you so much - you confirmed my suspicions that it's unlikely but you never really can know in this game! I'm pretty sure on o date to within a day or so, but I would be testing with one of those very cheap strip type tests. I do have one digi saved up but that's for confirming any squinters! I shall try and wait another day if possible but temptation may get the better of me.
Eta I haven't taken it yet, just trying to find excuses to do it sooner

Update: I called my gyno to ask about the mid cycle spotting and she suspected a polyp in my uterus. I had a trans vaginal ultrasound to check my uterine lining and everything looked clear! The u/s tech also said that I had a bunch of follicles getting ready for ovulation next week! I won't get the official word from my gyno for a few more days, but I'm excited that it's looking like I won't need a hysteroscopy or that I won't be missing out on ttc this cycle!

@TrailRunner: thank you! I broke out the digi as I realised it only had one month before it went out of date and.... Not quite sunk in yet!
