Does your LO's school do this? We just got a letter sent home saying we could sign up as a guest reader for LO's class. I feel like a shitty mom, but I don't have interest in doing it 
I'm all for going on field trips and joining in for parties, but not this...
If your LO's class does this, did you participate? Someone tell me I'm not terrible for not signing up. I'm just not one to be in the spotlight, even if only in front of kids and a few teachers.

No, I didn't sign up either. I can't take time off work to just come read a book. If they need extra hands for an activity or a trip, sure.

They don't ask but I have done it at drop off time. The teacher and I coordinate a day and I will come in a little early. She will have the kids at circle time and I will read before I head to work.

Yes, we do this! I've recently done it with a very cool interactive book and a flashlight. Trust me, the kids don't judge!

I don't think mine does this. I know for special holidays and stuff we can certainly come in and do this if we wanted to? But I work full time so I can't see taking PTO to do this. But, I think it would be fun!

Yep, we have it this month for Dr Seuss' birthdayI signed up for a Friday morning (there were slots open all day) and I'm reading "there's a wocket in my pocket". I don't work Friday days, though....

I did it at the daycare a couple of years ago when they asked. I work very close and have the flexibility to do so. Very few parents volunteered and I assume it's because they just can't take off in the middle of the day to read a book.
I would absolutely do this at my daughters Pre-K program as well if asked. Same reason, I work close and have the flexibility to do so.
And agreed, they are so non-judgemental and just love that someone is showing up special. And LO thought it was the most amazing thing that HER mom was there and she got to sit in my lap while we read.

@mediagirl: Yea I wouldn't mind doing it at pick up or drop off but they want us to come at like 10 am for circle time!

@T.H.O.U.: yeah, ours said that initially, as well. I think I made a pretty ugly face about it and she said, "but you can come whenever!!" Haha.
