My DS will be 1 a week from Sunday. I just noticed that I only have enough formula for a couple more days. WWYD?

I had the same thing happen and just bought more formula. I have a feeling I will have to slowly switch her over to regular milk just like I did from BM to formula. It was a slow transition for her to take it.

I would still buy a small can. Not every baby can go cold turkey to WCM. We had to mix formula and WCM for a couple of weeks and kept adjusting the ratio until it was all WCM.

We were in the same boat so we started mixing WCM with formula when we were about to run out. DS didn't mind the taste or anything, but he ended up having a terrible diaper rash and diarrhea. Ped didn't think it was an issue with dairy since he was on dairy-based formula and eating cheese and yogurt regularly, so she told us to just wait a few more weeks. So we actually switched him to toddler formula for a month (it was cheaper than infant formula!) and tried again later. He moved to WCM with zero issues at 13 months.

Both LOs switched over completely right away, and a little earlier than 1 too. Neither had any issues at all with it!

Our transition from Breastmilk to WCM was easy so I say try WCM. Our Ped asked us to start a few weeks before 1 so if there were any issues or allergies we would know and be able to discuss at her 1 year visit.

I was able to switch cold turkey with my 2 oldest. I say go ahead and switch.

I transitioned to cows milk when DS was 11 months, and he was entirely on regular milk by 12 months. It's not too early.

Switch and see if you need a small can go get it, we did cold turkey and DD was just fine just needed it room temp at first but that only lasted a week

We started with wcm a few days before 12 mos, at ped's recommendation. LO loved it so much she didn't want to go back to formula and we never finished our last can!

Start replacing a bottle with a sippy of WCM and see how it goes. If LO has no issues with WCM, you don't need any more formula. If LO is resistant or you want to slowly transition, then get a small can of formula.

We gradually replaced our bottles with sippies of formula and solids, and then sippies of WCM. I'm not sure you can just cut out formula cold turkey without your LO being ready. WCM isn't a formula replacement, solids are. So you can't just give 20-30oz of milk in bottles.

We started cows milk around 9 months , as per Canadian guidelines. No issues

DS might have been fine making the switch to WCM cold turkey, but I didn't want to bank on it. So we switched one feeding every few days. In about 2 weeks, we were on WCM completely.

We started WCM around 11 months to make sure he could take it for daycare. He had no problems, and drinks way more of it there than at home, since I'm still breastfeeding 3x per day.

I would buy formula. I waited until our 12 month appointment the week after his birthday. Sure enough, his pediatrician said he should still get a bottle or two of formula a day since he was anemic and needed the iron. Plus, his tummy didn't do super well with WCM so we still are slowly switching at 13 months.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! We were at my local cafe today and I got him some WCM in a straw cup. He likes it! I'll see how he does the next few days with it. I may try keeping a bottle or 2 of formula depending on his intake. He drinks a LOT of formula still (18-24 oz daily) so I don't want him to suddenly go hungry.

Well my situation is different because we still nurse 2-3 times a day but we ran out right at 11 months and switched to cows milk without issue. Canada's recommendation is 9 months so I felt no guilt.
