@locavore_mama: maybe you will have better luck in your area... My produce and fruit selection is not great. I was thinking of trekking to whole foods when the time comes to see if they had any tasty ones and if not go to plan B.. Whatever that is.

I like the unpeeled oranges just because they wouldn't be wasted if they didn't all get eaten right away.

What about play-doh? I saw a 10 pack of mini ones in the Halloween candy aisle.

I think the bananas are super cute (maybe you could use raisins to make the face?). Or maybe mixing dried apricots and raisins so that it is orange/black, and putting them in little baggies tied with a festive bow.

My daycare provider takes care of all of the food (5 kids max), so we won't be bringing anything.

I saw these two today on newlywoodwards. I thought they were so cute. The top are the little cups of mandarin oranges with pumpkin faces drawn on.

I love the idea of homemade pumpkin pop-tarts but I don't think I could make something come out that cute!!

I would just get mini cookie cutters in halloween shapes! Then cut up whatever you'd like! fruits, veggies, little cream cheese or hummus sandwiches, deli meats, cheese?

I just signed up to bring snacks for my son's school halloween party as well. Some great ideas here. What did you end up deciding on? I think I may just cut out some cheese snacks with halloween shape cutters. We'll see.

@locavore_mama: That sounds super cute. Another parent is bringing in cupcakes (it will also her LO's birthday), so they'll already be baked goods. Maybe I can try freezing some yogurt as well in different shapes as well.
