Breastfeeding, man. I was so hopeful we'd have a better time this go around! Different, yes. Better... ermmmm, to be determined.

So, with G being early, she never mastered the suck/latch thing. We left hospital/special care with shields for feeding and I had to express and top her up for months until she was able to feed herself without it. We used the nipple shield for the full 12 months we breastfed. It was exhausting to say the least!

Miss C is two weeks old, and has been feeding like a champ. She latched immediately after birth and has been a good little feeder since - but my boobs haven't been behaving. Milk took a while to come in again, I had whopping engorgement that lasted for a full week, the usual sore nipples from adjusting.

Things finally settled and my boobs 'deflated' and feeds stopped hurting quite so much (even though I still need to help her latch properly, so we come on/off until it's comfortable) .. and now I'm getting pains AFTER feeding. I haven't ever experienced anything like it! Once the feed is done, my nipples go white, then purple, then pink.. and as they change, the throbbing pain starts. It's worse with the cold (standing in front of the freezer sets them off) and oh man, my nips are SO sensitive!

Anyone have any tips for vasospasms?
