At what age was your LO completely off of the bottle. I am particularly asking especially if you did not cut it out immediately at 12 months.

She's only 8 months old so still on the bottle but I'm curious about this. Her doctor wants her to start the transition soon so she can be off of it by a year but almost everyone I know says they went over a year.

@BelugaBean: my pediatrician said this, as well. I find it hilarious that they think you can magically cut out the bottle at 12 months...

@mediagirl: He told us to start giving her a sippy cup to play around with and try to use. He said he hopes that she can start her transition as soon as possible to cut it out by a year. She's just not really interested yet though so I don't really see it happening.

DD was off the bottle pretty soon after 12 months. For sure she was done by 13 months. DS will be 1 on Saturday, and we're down to two bottles a day. I hope he'll be totally of the bottle in a week or two.

At 12 months my baby still seemed so much like a "baby", so I just didn't feel comfortable taking away the bottle. My LO LOVES the bottle, and call me lazy, but I didn't want to deal with the consequences of an unhappy baby quite yet.

It was around 15-16 months. We replaced it with the Think Baby sippy, which is very similar to a bottle, but still a sippy nonetheless. She hated all the other brands we tried.
I was surprised our Dr wanted us to stop at 12 months, but she admitted she tells everyone that because it just gets harder and harder the older they get from there. She then gave us until 18 months, but like I said, we were successful at around 15 months.

Our LO doesn't use the bottle unless we happen to go out to dinner and use a sitter. He's 7 mos and uses a straw sippy cup at mealtimes for water. I ebf the rest of the time..

We are at 19 months. However, she only uses it at night or when she's really tired/fussy. It was the only thing that would comfort her when I was weaning. During the day at daycare she uses a sippy just fine. I think we probably could easily wean the bottle, but she loves it and I don't think 1-2 a day really will kill her.
