Ugh. DD is not yet 6 months and already has her two bottom teeth. Her new favorite thing is biting my nipple. Holy hell that hurts. Is there anything at all I can do to make it stop????

I just told R No no, we don't bite Mommy. I would take her off the boob. Luckily she did it maybe 10 times when she first got her teeth and knock on wood, hasn't happened in weeks.

This hasn't happened to us, thank goodness, but I've heard pressing baby into the breast so their nose gets covered will make them release so they can breathe and then you can follow up with a firm no. Or, if you think she's biting and playing around, I would end the session and try again in a bit. You don't want it to become a game where she looks fora reaction.

Thea has been biting at night when I'm trying to put her to sleep. I say no, ouch loudly enough to kind of startle her and then I get up and walk away. Since I nurse her to sleep, this means she cries for a minute or two, and then I go back in to nurse again. Honestly, at that point in the day I am so tired I'm just not interested in being physically injured while I try to nurse her to sleep for the 6th time. (can you tell I"m getting fed up?)

I stick my finger in her mouth and unlatch her and I say ouch, or please don't bite. She only bites me when she is trying to unlatch so I just stop nursing at that point.

I gently squeeze A's nose to get her to unlatch then I put her in the cot and walk away for a few minutes. She seems to have worked out that biting has negative consequences!
@sslm: if she's biting at the end of a feed you might need to pop her off as soon as she starts fluffing round at the breast so she doesn't have time to think about biting.

Thanks for the tips! I should definitely just walk away, I just kept trying to get her latched this morning and it was awful. I had bite marks on my nipple!!!
