For me it will probably be science! I sucked at science in school.
And, I'm just going to assume anything past 3rd grade I'm going to need the help of Google.

Junior high & HS math & science. DH is much better, but I have a feeling we're going to call in the experts anyway.

Math! I hate math! And esp if they switch to that new way of teaching math!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Physics and History.
ETA: And math if they are doing common core - I don't get that stuff at all!

@snowjewelz: I literally blanked out when my nephew asked for my help. ️️
I know our elementary does the new way too.

Sport.
I was academic at school and was good at all subjects but I cant catch a ball to save my life and really don't like sport. If there are games to go to, I've told DH he needs to go and support her!

@regberadaisy: I tried so hard to understand it (I see ppl posting about this occasionally on FB). I just can't! I learned math the true Asian way since I was born & raised in HK!

"New math" is the only thing that worries me. I am good at "old math".
pomelo / 5257 posts
I'd say math, but my DH is a genius at math so it'll be OK! Between the two of us, we should be good -- he's good at the math and science stuff, and I was an English and history major

I am not sure, I taught elementary so I feel like we will be good through middle school. I have always said that we will need to hire out both music and swimming and go figure she has an affinity for both. So she is in classes for both with lots of support at home and we do the other stuff ourselves for now.

Math. Oh god I'm so terrible at math. My brain wasn't wired for it. It doesn't matter if it's new math or old math. I will f*ck it up.
Luckily DH is awesome at math and science. He actually understands the new math system and likes it. I dominate English and History. We'll be covered.

M has math and science covered, also spelling.
I have Spanish, History, Social Sciences and Art covered.
So grammar?
nectarine / 2641 posts
Writing. Because I'll be seriously impatient. I taught elementary school, and I still hate it--creative, mostly. Factual writing I've got.
grapefruit / 4997 posts
@Adira: Seriously, that common core math looks ridiculously time consuming and a waste of paper! Bring back old math please.

Foreign languages! I took Latin so am useless when it comes to speaking languages.

All of them, except for English, because they'll be learning everything in German. Lol. We're planning on hiring tutors.

Science. I've always hated it. I can handle physics because it's basically just calculus, but chemistry and biology are just so outside of my comprehension.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Honestly, between DH and I, we're covered on all subjects. We're both pretty versatile in terms of knowledge.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
I think we will be pretty well covered between me and Dh. The only weak area I could think of between us is history but I feel like that we can teach ourselves if need be. Luckily he is better at sports!
Oh and neither of us are musical at all.
pomegranate / 3393 posts
Calculus, and if he studies any language other than Farsi, French, or German!
ETA: but DH would cover calculus. We have almost everything else covered, other than music or musical instruments, neither of us play anything
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
History or any foreign language that's not Spanish or Chinese!
DH loves history so he'll cover that. I think he also took French and German in HS, but don't know how much he retained.
pomegranate / 3845 posts
@regberadaisy: science for me too! I just never understood it the way I did other subjects.
And art. Thankfully DH is very creative and talented (well, compared to me!)
But math, history, English, spelling, I'm all over it!
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Math. I struggle with it. But it's one of D's best subjects.
I'm good with English and Science, we're both good with history (although he has a better mind for facts and trivia).
grape / 80 posts
Math, ugh. I think DH will be useful in helping with math though.
English, science, and French are in the bag. Both of us are history buffs... I'm actually, technically a historian. Looking forward to that at lease!
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Science - I just don't have a scientific brain! Fortunately, DH, being an engineer who reads books on quantum theory and physics for fun, more than has that covered.
We're both good at math, although higher level stuff (calculus etc) will be all DH. History we're both pretty decent, but geography is more my speciality, whilst a broader overview of history is more of DH's forte.
I will definitely be the go to for literacy, English, writing, and the social sciences.
For languages and the arts, our kids are screwed.

Math! Thankfully, that's DH's strongest subject.
He loves math and history. I love english and science. Hopefully, that'll cover the majority of the subjects!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
English! I was actually not super terrible at it but I had no confidence in that subject where as with Math and Science I felt I really knew those well.
persimmon / 1339 posts
I'm a science teacher and did math up to University level so hopefully will be okay there (they don't teach common core yet in Australia - god help me if they do!!) My husband is a Physics major and has his pHd in business/economics so we should be covered for all Science, Math and econ-based humanities.
English is going to SUCK - I decided as soon as I graduated from high school that I would never "interpret" another book or play or poem for as long as I live. I read for pleasure and don't like to find deeper meaning in anything. When he comes to me with Twelfth Night and wants an interpretation I'm sending his straight to Cliff's Notes.
nectarine / 2173 posts
Music - neither DH or I play an instrument or read music. Languages perhaps - I took French and DH took French, Spanish, and Latin. If LO wants to learn Mandarin or Japanese or something, she'll be on her own.
But we both are pretty well rounded on other subjects.
