Zoli straw cups. It is easy to use but a pain to clean.

We use all 3 for different reasons. I was looking at straws for developing tongue strength for speech. He uses regular cups when possible (at the table), hard spout sippy for night time (they don't leak and it is ONLY water), soft spout sippies and straw cups for living room and car use, Camelbak for out and about use

We like straw cups - a bonus is that if your LO can drink from a straw, and you forget their special cup, they will be able to drink from a regular adult straw.

We did a mix of straw and regular cups. He used the straw cup pretty well for about 4 months (10 months to 14 months?), and then I got tired of cleaning the straws, so we just used the open cup. He was successfully drinking out of an open cup by about 14 months without too many spills.

We prefer straw cups and a practice cup (Avent natural drinking cup). She can drink out of a regular cup just fine, but she can't resist throwing things into it. She's 17 months.

Once we got her on a spout cup we immediately tried teaching draw with the playtex one that you can squeeze for liquid, and dd just really prefers her zoli. If you get the straw cleaner I actually find them easiest to clean...only the cup and the top, no random pieces getting lost in the dishwasher/sink.

I used spout as a toddler and my teeth and speech were fine. My brother too. For us it was more about what dd liked.
